They just tried to charge me $150 for a radiator flush. Now I’m here. Thank you
@Blinknone2 жыл бұрын
Reconnect the lower radiator hose before refilling with coolant. Also, no flush is happening here and a lot of old coolant is being left in the engine block.
@applenotbanana7492 жыл бұрын
Planning on doing this soon, how would you recommend making sure it is truly all flushed out? Just running water through a few times?
@Blinknone2 жыл бұрын
@@applenotbanana749 That's what I usually do.. Several (3-5) "drain and fills" with plain water, then filling up with a final mix of new coolant and distilled water. Make sure to drive it enough to open the thermostat a few times each time you drain and fill. Need to get all that fluid circulating.

Your going to check your temperature gauge that’s not in the car

Where can i find it ?

@no you explained it correct, sir!

For those who don't have a temp guage, get yourself a scan tool that registers live data. Monitor the temp using the scan tool. If you're doing your own maintenance, a scan tool is a must anyway.

I just did mine and I found that the best way is to blow air to the coolant reservoir when the lower hose is disconnected. I did and blew all the remaining coolant in the system. It should be low pressure only. I reconnected my hoses and added coolant to the system, then bleed the system, started the vehicle with the heater on full blast, and done.

Was there any need to put the heater on? If so do you leave it on while u r filling it up?
@Revved_up_jb2 жыл бұрын
Probably too late but yes, coolant will flow to heater matrix. It’s best to do this on every car you do a coolant change on

probably dont touch the controls in the car with the coolant gloves, but thats just my opinion.

What is the reason to flush the coolant lreservoir? I took to Walmart to change the oil and the reservoir broke and needs replacement* I am going to order this part with you guys but I would like luto change it myself, do I need to do all that or if I remove the liquid and replace will be just fine.
@90210sky5 жыл бұрын
if your MINI is not too old, you ll be Ok using the same coolant, although it would be a great opportunity to change it, then you ll extend the life of your components. peace of mind.
@dlively30134 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like Walmart broke your reservoir. You have to partially remove it to access the oil filter. That's probably how it got broke.
@lucyfyrearchoftwilight92823 жыл бұрын
@@dlively3013 Except that Mini's are infamous for the reservoir to crack and the plastic weld line. If it's leaking from there.... that's Mini for ya. I am currently swapping my OEM plastic one (plastic weld leak) with an all-aluminum welded reservoir. End of that BS.
