BOX PATTIES

INGREDIENTS:
Chicken (boneless) - 2 breast pieces (400-500 gm)
Green chilies (make a paste) - 8-10 or according to your taste
Green chilies - 5, 6 (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 Tbsp.
Yogurt - 1 Tbsp.
Salt - according to your taste
Potato - 2 medium sizes (boiled and cut into small cubes)
Egg - 3 (boiled and cut into small cubes)
Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Milk - 1/2 cup
Soya sauce - 2 Tbsp.
Samosa Patti - as required
Chapatti flour - 1/4 cup (dissolve in water and make a paste)
Butter - 1 Tbsp.
Oil for deep frying
METHOD
1- In a big pot, add chicken cubes, green chili paste, ginger garlic paste, yogurt, and salt.
Now add 1 cup water and cook on a slow flame for 15-20 minutes till chicken is cooked.
2- Now set the flame high and dry the excess water.
3- When there is little water remaining, turn off the flame and shred the chicken by using a hand mixer or simply with your hands.
4 - Now take a pot and add 1 Tablespoon butter, make it hot, now add chopped green chilies, sauté for 1 minute then add shredded chicken. Mix well.
5- Now add milk and soya sauce, mix well and cook on high flame until moisture evaporates (keep stirring) until chicken becomes completely dry.
6- Turn off the flame and bring the chicken to room temperature.
7- Now transfer the chicken in a bowl, add boiled potatoes, boiled eggs, and black pepper powder, adjust the salt and mix well gently.
8- Now take 2 samosa sheets, keep one vertical and another one horizontal over first one, making a plus ➕ shape.
9- Keep some chicken filling over it and fold into a box shape, apply flour paste to seal the box patty.
10- Deep fry till golden brown.
Serve Hot with assorted chutneys.
Notes:
• Must bring the shredded chicken to room temperature. Do not add potatoes and eggs in hot shredded chicken as they will release water. If your filling is watery, your patties will become soggy.
• You can Freeze these box patties.It’s better to defrost before frying however you can fry directly too without defrosting them.
• Deep Fry them on low - medium flame. If you are frying frozen box patties, fry them on a slow flame for initial 1-2 minutes then on medium flame.
• You can use any filling for these box patties.
