I've been following several sailing channels for some time. I'm frustrated sailor who left it too late in life to embark on the adventure you are enjoying. I just wanted to comment on how impressed I am with your courage and competence. I'm a bit weary of the cheesecake fluff of so many of the other channels. Yours is genuine and entertaining account of your adventure. Thanks for keeping it real

As a fellow older sailor ( did the world bit 30+ years ago) its never to late to do some cruising. Dad was 94 when he decided to give up the sailing boat life .

@@solosailingboatlife7203 how did he manage chronic pain? I already have a bad back, knee, ankle, hip, shoulder, and elbows... I can still exert myself but I have to account for a couple days recovery time and potentially more damage...

He just lived with it . Dad broke his back when he was 48 and took several years to recover but was always in some pain . He had broken his hip 3 times once on the boat while doing some maintance . Push on through . My back is a nightmare both knees are shot from roofing . That is what neoprene is for . It does help a lot.

saw a fantastic meteor shower in Kingston harbor in the middle 60s while living on a boat was about seven years old..... even though it was in Port Royal it was still fantastic to remember as a child ! ! !

Ah, the summer memories as a kid. Those cheap semi see through plastic sandals that prevented your feet from getting cut up. And when you returned to the summer cottage the following year, you would find them with the buckle rusted to bits.

My dad was a Marine stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. He and his friends would eat eel. The military supplied some form a butter product they would cook them in after cleaning them. He said they were very good and much better than the military food.

We were on a resort on Andaman once and there were huge holes in the grass beside the restaurant area,the size of a coconut without the green part.They were from coconut crabs and we saw some also.Look out for the holes on the shore and you surely will find some crabs there.Nice beach nightlife btw : )

Think it was a dads natural concern for a daughter that first hooked me then it was your adventures. I would not eat sorrel. Not t unless I wanted kidney stones. I prefer to eat seaweeds instead--as well as the other stuff you mentioned. If you want drinking water, make up a solar still.
