Wow what a great idea to have our Heavenly Father to choose our friends. I had chosen people from my own parish to be my friends but I end up being disappointed ☹️ So I’ll pray that God chooses my friends for now on.😊

Please, God. I have tried for a long time to reach out. But I haven't found them yet. I keep praying Lord and I am willing to wait for friendships that You will bless me with my life. I pray for good friends who will lead me and journey with me to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. I love You, Lord.

I had difficulty with a former friend because she could not make herself vulnerable with me. I wonder now if I seemed untrustworthy to her or if she was hurt badly in the past. She was honest and supportive to me, but she set such high boundaries that I never felt comfortable giving her my honest opinion, advice, or even providing emotional support. She seemed fine with a one-sided friendship. It was odd to me. I wondered what I provided for her or what she derived from my friendship aside from entertainment. She never seemed to need anything from me except my company. I think about her every day still and it has been five years since we last spoke.

“It is not good that the man should be alone" (Gen. 2:18). "No longer do I call you servants...but I have called you friends..." (John 15:15). I think it is important to be authentic in the sense that we can be a friend to all. Also, I heard Leah Libresco Sargeant in an interview talk about how she makes an effort to introduce herself and her husband to new people at their parish, and even at times lets people hold her baby. God bless.

I am from the United States. My name is Michael, you are my brothers through Christ. What do international friends do? I am in seminary and the Lord are God comes first in my life. If you have any suggestions how we could communicate let me know. God will bring friends if you truly want friends, Think about it are you truly open to receiving what the Lord will give you?

Mrs. Bean, I don't know if you've realized this, but at the end of the video I think you meant to say "He does have the hairs on our head counted, and he does care about something that's so very important to you." It sounded to me as though you accidentally said "doesn't" instead of "does" in that sentence. Just letting you all know. Thank you for the video.

I think it is harder for women. There are many situations when I thought people, usually women, were my friends. I was there for them during tough times and I loved them. Then I went through my own hard times and I was shocked to realise that these women did not like me. A couple of them ridiculed my situation. I realised that some of these women were actually quite envious of me (for what reason - I do not know. There is nothing enviable about my life). So I tried with another group of women. Again I was there for them in their tough times and recently my mum was diagnosed with cancer and my sister fell sick as well. It was a really stressful time and when I tried to reach out, one of them tried, but she was very busy. The others ignored me. When I brought up how I felt one of them told me that everyone has problems and to just get over it. I was shocked and hurt. All of these women considered themselves to be God-fearing. Most were Catholic. I have reached a stage in my life where I dont believe that human beings can truly be there for another person - outside of their own families, that is. They can feign concern, but they are usually too caught up in their own lives. I have stopped looking for friends. I dont really call or message anyone regularly. A few times a year I will reach out to university friends but that's it.

Sounds like these people have never really experienced hard times so they wouldn't understand. I have experienced this too. I pray God sends you faithful people in your life. 🙏

I am such a broken human that I am often intimidated by people who are strong Catholics. I feel I’m not at their level of spirituality yet. I’ll have to pray on getting over that.

We are all broken, so dont get intimidated. Start where you are and feed your soul slowly by attending mass, reading the bible, podcasts, KZbin videos etc. Ascension podcasts are a gem.

Interesting what you both say, I am not saying no, God will not grant those Godly friendships but I have asked the Lord for this gift for more than a decade and for my son for over 5 years. Nothing. I have given up on me asking the Lord. I continue asking for my son. But, many times God is extreme silent. I don't understand how this can be a bad thing. Why isn't granting this mega desire of my heart? Don't get it. I think I am strong person, but my son is only 13 and has ADHD & OCD and I am begging him for a Catholic practicing true friend who won't judge him but accept him for who he is, a kind & good boy.

I get that. I have ADHD/Anxiety/Autism. I didn't make friends until I was in my late 20s. What are his interests? For example I was super into minecraft, and I played online and watching other people form friendships over text in the context of the game really helped me understand how friendships typically begin. Then I was slowly able to apply it to real life. There are a lot of good compatible potential friends everywhere, and sometimes the problem is understanding how to communicate, and understanding how to discover what kind of person you are talking to and be flexible in the midst of that. ADHD can make it difficult to absorb what's in front of you, and sometimes that includes what the person you're talking to is revealing about who they are. I strongly recommend finding groups who share interests so all that can take a backseat. I like online friendships because it removes some of the challenges of face to face and can be a stepping stone towards face to face, but starting with faith is hard online because you have to start with the heavy stuff. Idk! Maybe a better way would be like start at church but look for people with other shared interests within that community? That way there's something to initially bond over before actually testing that bond with deep, vulnerable topics like faith. You know what he should do? (only if he really picks up the idea and runs with it though haha) He should plan a youth thing where they do some kind of service. Like he could start a regular group for teens his age together to go volunteer at soup kitchens, or if he's musical, plan some group to provide music ministry at mass every so often, or even just doing highway cleanup for donations for some cause, or any interesting engaging service that requires teamwork and skills he enjoys putting to use. Then the focus is the tasks, and it allows things to develop naturally. My sister did something like that when she was a little older, like 14-15. She started like a "youth group" but for kids under 12, run by members of the youth group, who were her age or a bit older. It led to lots of cool friendships and doors opening up. They met up regularly to plan sessions for the kids, and they made up games, wrote talks, invented craft projects, decorated, all focused on teaching the kids the faith, like it was really fun to bond over. And it was a serious service for the community, like the group blew up! He could put something in the church bulletin and only go ahead with it if it seems like there is interest.

Today, friends in church send Christian verses when people open up to them. The benevolence of in person presence is missing.
