Thanks! I'm going to try this. When I picked up my '56 S-112 from my father's house he said "Do you want the spare engine?". He had a spare engine sitting in the woods for 60 years, but it still had oil (and some water) in it. I brought it home and have it on an engine stand. I've poured Marvel's Mystery Oil through it, but I will try this method.

Good luck! Let me know how it works for you. This method has never failed me, so I’m excited to see it work for other folks. Most motors pop free within 15 seconds of tightening the nuts.

I'm waiting eagerly for your 214/233 GRD oil system upgrade. The few engines we have down here have mostly been flogged quite hard and those that have managed to stay in one piece been sitting out in the scrub for decades. IHI parts for pre-50's trucks are rarer than an honest politician in Australia.

Once the cylinder head is pulled off you can just drop TWO of the round wooden blocks onto each of the two downward traveling pistons. Might even get to use the original head blots if those two pistons are already near the BDC. The extra weight of the iron head, beyond just the flat plate, may even help.

Can you do vid on green diamond oil pumps. Where can I find one if its bad.
@BareKnuckleBinder3 жыл бұрын
I will be doing a GRD oil pump/filter upgrade video in the near future. In the meantime, if your pump is bad, companies like EGGE can rebuild your pump core. If you need a rebuildable core, I have several.

@@BareKnuckleBinder Thanks for the EGGE tip. I'll be removing the pump this weekend. I'll wait for your oil pump vid for the reinstall, not sure how to put it back in properly without advice from someone who has done it before.

Very practical method, thanks. What’s your experience with freeing them up without head removal?
@BareKnuckleBinder2 жыл бұрын
My own experience without removing the head is very limited, because I’ve seen several freed without head removal that caused significant damage during or after the procedure. Obviously removing the head seems like more work, but without doing that you never really know what you’re up against (debris in the cylinders, etc.). There’s exceptions to every rule, but I pull the head every time.
@NialPowerCork2 жыл бұрын
@@BareKnuckleBinder yeah I take your point alright. I’ve had a look with a boroscope on mine and I don’t think I’d have a debris issue it’s a bit of a long shot as to whether it’ll free or not. It’s a straight 6 with 2 cylinders that look stuck, I’ve had it diesel soaking for a week but no sign of anything leaking through on those two. I’m thinking of rigging up a cartridge heater to heat the diesel directly in those cylinders and see if that helps, just for fun really as an experiment. The car will undergo a restoration anyway so probably have to do an engine overhaul anyway.

Do any of your videos ever show the trucks? I watched several of your videos and saw great detail on parts, but none of them showed the truck the parts go to. I mean like more than just the same thumbnail in all the videos. How about a walk through or intro of the vehicle? It'd be nice to know, or better see the vehicle that the parts belong to. Or maybe I'm missing something here?

obviously not stuck bad,i tried this on a sd220 after using krud kutter to remove the rust and all idid was break the wood block which i then installed a piece of pipe and it just embedded into the piston...so pounding a wooden block with a hammer worked way better.

Do you overhaul many of the 214's and 233 green diamond -?
@BareKnuckleBinder3 жыл бұрын
I've rebuilt several, partially rebuilt more. It's so hard to find main bearings anymore that I tend to keep them going with ring & valve jobs, etc. if they don't absolutely need the lower end rebuilt.
@ignacioromero5014 Жыл бұрын
clearly it works for freeing things up, what about dissolving ring ridges and allowing the rings to be loosened by oil penetrants? if you go to town on a stuck motor straight away, you are guaranteed to do damage.
@BareKnuckleBinder Жыл бұрын
I never do this on a dry motor. It’s always allowed to soak in penetrant first.

@BareKnuckleBinder Жыл бұрын
It’s a no-brainer to remove the head period. Anything else is a hack job. I understand what you’re trying to say, but why do so many folks get the head off and it still takes them days/weeks/months for results?
@jimmoravec1326 Жыл бұрын
@@BareKnuckleBinder I’ve done maybe a dozen with the heads off. I’ve done far more with the heads on and my experience with break fluid has never let me down. I apologize for being a smart ass and realize that I shouldn’t have said what I said. The way you are doing this is a very good and affective way. I’m just saying that if you are working on a locked up engine in like a car or truck in the 50s on up for example OHV it’s far more work removing the heads. The main problem people destroy engines is they don’t have any patience and force things. Common sense and some patience, you have to let the break fluid soak for at least 4 hours and then slowly work the engine back and forth. It takes time to do it the right way, I have unlocked more stuck engines than I care to mention and have had good success no internal damage and all ran without any issues. I fully understand what you mean by hack jobs I seen all I need to see and would be embarrassed to put videos on KZbin some of these peoples ways of doing things are hopeless and just plain dumb. Good video 👍

Why not WD?
@grand73am Жыл бұрын
WD40 is just a light oil, good for minor lubricating of a hinge or lock. It doesn't dissolve rust like PB Blaster or Kroil will, which is what you need to do with a stuck engine, or anything that's rusted, like screws, bolts, and nuts.
@user-tn1hk6zm2freedomАй бұрын
Oh my God. Wrong. Good way to crack the cylinder wall. Put the engine out side and put 1/2" of diesel fuel in the cylinders and lite it with a propane torch. Let it burn out tap the pistons with a block of wood and they will move easy and cause no damage. Been there and done it.
@BareKnuckleBinderАй бұрын
@@user-tn1hk6zm2freedom light an open fire in the motor block? Got it… did you read that in a factory service manual? I’m also not sure where you think the expansive properties of pushing a piston straight down through a cylinder would come from, much less enough to crack a cylinder wall. I’d be more likely to give your comment/opinion more consideration if you’d said “you could break rings” or “you could damage a ring land” (neither of which I’ve ever done in years of doing this) but when you don’t understand how any of this works it makes sense that you may be left with an incorrect notion that this would or even could crack a cylinder wall. Have a good one.
