To those caught in the cycle: I understand. To those who haven't, either personally, or through those they love : I pray you never have to. It's a slippery slope, and can happen seemingly overnight, or gradually. I fell into the ladder group, managing to function for quite a while before spiraling, and in my experience this made it tougher stay away from it. I didn't think it was strong enough, made excuse after excuse, justified it in the most ludicrous ways. Bottom line, most won't quit until THEY have had enough, and that's if they're fortunate enough to survive the lifestyle of course. It's not always the drug that kills you. None of this is set in stone, though and everyone is different. Also, if doing it for your kids, and family is what it takes to motivate you, then by all means GO. Fake it till you make it. For me, it took multiple trips, hitting the reset button on life, loosing everything, and everyone that tried to help me. Burning every olive branch, and every bridge afforded me. Every bridge but the one I was forced to sleep under. That's what I needed to go through, to wake up. I grew up in Detroit so I'm no stranger to rough neighborhoods, but being homeless in Camden NJ was an eye opener. I KNOW I have someone watching over me, because people who don't know me, paint me as this young vulnerable kid from the burbs, with no street smarts. Needles to say I've learned to use this to my advantage, and it's one of only reasons I survived as long as I did, but it was a miserable existence, and there's always someone with more smarts than you, more desperate than you, and more dangerous. I am not ashamed of it, and need to keep it front and center, not only so I don't forget, but with the hope that someone, anyone can relate. I'm not 100% drug free, I smoke weed, and occasionally drink, but the other shit is no longer in my vocabulary. Not saying I am "Cured" and I still have intrusive thoughts/cravings, perticularley in stressful times, and death anniversaries, but as time goes on they are fewer and farther between. I'm not doing any today, and that's the only day I focus on. Never know, what tomorrow holds, I could trip on the sidewalk and fall face first into a kilo some guy ditched in a car chase. 😉 I hope someone gets something out of this, there's always hope, life is gonna suck sometimes, but it's worth living. Even if you have lost your entire family, there's a new family out there for everyone, who takes the time to seek it. If no one else has told you this lately you are relevant, you are needed, and you are loved.

As people will do it anyway despite any laws or lack of knowledge, trying to keep away these informations from public is a rather unuseful or downright stupid strategy. The right way of dealing with the drug problem is to spread information so if someone decides to do drugs, he at least knows where the dangers are and how to lower the risks as far as possible, and what exactly he does there. Last but not least, if someone really is eager to get these informations, he will easily get there. If people want to do drugs, their health and safety is their responsibility (like it is with anything else too) and they certainly don't need to be punished for being curious or just wanting to have an alternative to alcohol.
@freethebaseiliesse41267 жыл бұрын
+Covodax Wise words, it's rare to see people saying what is more than logical. People making drugs should have the possibility to be informed about the differents dangers for the primary reason to avoid innocent people being hurt in an explosion, deadly fumes, ... Some drugs are basicly easy to make, but can also turn in a disaster if they are not done in the right conditions. If NileRed would teach drug addicts how to avoid accidents that can happen when manufacturing drugs with the purpose to avoid innocent people being hurt, I think he would act in a positive way. For countries where drugs are illegal, that wouldn't empeach the cops continuing their stupid drug war

You'd dissolve it in some water in a sep. funnel then react it with a weak base like ammonia to precipitate the freebase, add a non polar solvent like ether, drain the bottom portion. then dry it, and convert it back to cocaine hcl, by adding some muriatic acid and drying again....?

Or if its in water, pushing it into non polar solvent with sodium hydroxide solution, separating, and introducing hydrogen chloride gas to non polar solvent. Filter. Repeat until nothing falls out. The ancient ones passed down this knowledge to Swim, but he is ancient himself now and his mind is half in the ancestors world and half in this so his mumblings cannot be trusted anymore.

CHCl3 in trace amount can participate in reimer timer reaction. So better to use K2CO3 for neutrlizing without problem with DCM or using Ether for extract in the epresence of excess NaOH. good luck!

Clueless in chemistry here... You guys have been nice in answering my other questions... At the one minute mark, a diagram shows the process. However, both sides look the same to me except that on the left is hydrochloride and on the right is NaCl (a salt right?). So I have a two parter: is this "freebasing" for getting ride of the hydrocloride (I believe this sort of what is explained in the beginning)?. Part two is that is there a H2O missing in the diagram? Thanks in advance...
@kevinbyrne45389 жыл бұрын
+wgm4321 -- (1) "Freebasing" is removal of the H+ ion from the amine salt (i.e., removal of the H+ from the N atom). In the example that you cited, yes, freebasing removes the hydrochloride. (2) Yes, there is an H2O missing from the right-hand side of the equation. However, since the reaction will occur in water, the production of a little more water during the reaction would hardly be noticeable and wouldn't significantly affect the course of the reaction.

In the upcoming videos, you mention that lithium hydroxide can convert carbon dioxide to oxygen. Apparently if you react hydrogen peroxide with the LiOH, followed by dehydration, it makes lithium peroxide, which can replace CO2 with O2, but it doesn't reduce the carbon, just turns it into carbonate. Is that what you meant, or am I reading it wrong?

You crashed it out from 100 mL water, which can dissolve 5 g phenylhydrazine HCl (solubility = 50 mg/mL) (you lose less because the water had other salts in it). => You lost most of the phenylhydrazine as its HCl salt into the water from which you first precipitated it in the aniline to phenylhydrazine HCl video.

@NileRed9 жыл бұрын
+pyro2525 I got some sulfuric acid from the local store that i cleaned. Not Ro-tyme but something similar. I used the cotton plug because it is easier to clean the funnel that my glass frits. So it was just laziness. It works well though. The silica gel at the end serves to filter out small particles and also it pulls water. Clearly it didnt do much though...
@pyro25259 жыл бұрын
+Nile Red Ahh ok, that makes sense, I'll keep that in mind. The peculiar thing about this acid is that after strong and prolonged heating (white fumes evolving for awhile) is that it goes from that slightly red/yellow tinted colour to black. Makes me wonder if getting 30% H2O2 would even be worth it.
@NileRed9 жыл бұрын
That is very weird indeed. When my H2SO4 got to boiling, it turns a faint yellow color (which went away on cooling) but that is about it.
@pyro25259 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm really not sure what to make of it. It apparently has a "corrosion inhibitor" but I haven't been able to figure out what it would be (buffer, etc), or if it can be oxidized by H2O2. Do you happen to have a brand I could look for?
@NileRed9 жыл бұрын
Do you live in Canada? The only brand I could find is in Rona/Quebec. The corrosion inhibitors are usually organic based, but they when I researched it, they were kind of proprietary secrets. So more infor is hard to get. They prevent the sulfuric acid from attacking the metal in pipes. At leasy my brand was able to be oxidized by H2O2. www.rona.ca/en/super-drain-liquid-drain-opener-7666031

NaOH is a stronger base than the organic amine base, so it readily liberates the HCl salt from the amine to form sodium chloride which nicely dissolves in the aqueous layer while the free base remains in the organic layer, in this case DCM. Removal of the DCM solvent gives the pure free base. His drying method was not great, maybe he didn't have magnesium sulfate which is the preferred method to dry moist DCM.

Codeine HCl is a salt. Codeine freebase is just the regular compound, which comes from neutralizing the HCl salt.
