How to Freeze Fresh Pears
Pears can be frozen for up to one year in the freezer if stored properly.
Pears
Lemon
Water
Freezer safe storage bags
Wash pears and set aside. In a medium bowl add about 4 ½ cups water and the juice of one lemon (or 3 teaspoons of lemon juice). Slice each pear in half lengthwise, remove the core, and slice each half into quarters. Place each pear half in the lemon water for about 1-2 minutes to prevent browning. Remove pears from lemon water and place onto a paper towel lined dish. Pat each pear segment dry being sure there is not water remaining on the pears. Place pears on a parchment or silicone lined cookie sheet, with each pear laying on its side. Do not allow pears to touch or overlap. Place cookie sheet in the freezer until frozen firm or about two-three hours. Remove from the freezer and place pear sections in a freezer safe storage container. Be sure to label each container with the date and contents. Enjoy fresh pears for up to one year.

I do something similar with the almost-ripe pears from my own tree. When I thaw them I like to toss them with cinnamon and nutmeg and dot them with butter. Bake the pears at 350. I am a diabetic, and cinnamon baked pears is a dessert that I can safely enjoy.

I love baked pears! Yes, freezing fresh pears is a great way to extend the harvest. You are so fortunate to have your own pear tree. My mom had a special tool just for coring pears. It was a hoop that looked just like a duck head profile or a certain pottery trimming tool.

11:54 followed your instructions to the letter. Pears are great if eaten just before completely thawed. Once totally thawed they become mushy and not suitable for directly eating . They might be ok to cook down for pear butter or something like that.

The pears are hard as rocks, and they won’t ripen after they’re frozen.

I’m not sure if this is a question or a statement. However, I will answer as I interpreted the comment. Yes, the pears will be very hard after the slices are individually frozen. Once they have hardened, you can add all pear slices into a freezer safe storage container. They will not ripen further when frozen.
