Great stuff. I shot my son who does a little show with fire and used slow shutter (1/2 to 2 secs), second curtain and flash... Great results. Thank you for your work and time. Take care.

Flash becomes faster when you use it in lower power settings. Most flashes at 1/8 can freeze anything, since most flashes at this power setting have around 1/4000 flash duration. I shoot a lot during night time and I crank up the ISO to capture the ambient light, so I can get around using a small Godox TT350 to freeze motion. Sometimes I can use it even at 1/128, which gives me around 1/20000 flash duration. The best tip for freezing motion with flash is to find a flash that can give you enough power at 1/8 for your use case (which ISO and aperture you usually use).

Hey Haze, thanks for another fantastic video and great images. I love the way you use a small octabox (with a grid), even with full length shots. Does this give you a completely even lighting over the length of the body or are you looking for a little fall off at the extremities.
@Hkvisuals5 жыл бұрын
The angle plays a little to cover the entire body, but yes, hard to have an even lighting with such a small softbox. Sometimes it's not a choice, I have to travel light, and the smaller the better on windy days. When I shoot indoors, and when I have an assistant I use the 90x120
@cb0000365 жыл бұрын
Hk Visuals Well you still manage to get amazing results! It’s inspiring to see that you don’t have to have 3 lights and huge modifiers to get fantastic images.
@Hkvisuals5 жыл бұрын
But still... I love working with huge modifiers !!! :p

Hi, I’m curious as to your markets. Do you mainly sell print art or is it mostly magazine and promotion? Maybe something else? I love your work and it would be great to move into this away from standard portraiture. Any advice? Thanks!

Hello, your job is amazing! I'll like to start to experiment in freeze motion (at the moment I use this technic in product photography) in people, and also to shoot in sequence, I saw you use a broncolor lights, unfortunately I can't afford it, it's possible to use the Godox QT series to got the same results (freezing talking)?, if you have the possibility to do a video "how to" (like this one) but more step by step how to power the alternative light sources, and setup of them. Thanks a lot
@Hkvisuals5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I have never worked with Godox products... But I believe they are more than capable of achieving similar results. Thanks for the suggestion, I will think aout it ;)

so basicelly you would want a shuttle speed around 1/600 and F-stop of 8.0 or greater to get less motion blur ? correct
@Hkvisuals3 жыл бұрын
Not quite... The F-stop it's up to you, and how much of you scene you want in focus. 1/500sec is a good start to freeze motion.

Quick question. You know the photos at 7:00, How do you actually do that? Photoshop after? Or just taken in one photo? Thanks for the help. Merci!
@Hkvisuals3 жыл бұрын
There are multiple ways of doing that effect. Here, because of the amount of ambient light, I had to shoot in burst mode, and do a montage in photoshop.

I see you use a Watcom tablet. I just purchased the same one, but have one hell of a time using it in my workflow? PS I'm, not the short cut remember guy? Thanks
