I have watched a lot of tanners...just found your site and have learned more in three shows than all the others put together. So many practical useful tips. Love it thanks.

Ron does a great job on tanning, and has taught many the proper techniques.

Another awesome video. I learned a lot. I have a fleshing beam like yours. I made a sturdy sawhorse just like yours. I have a 8 inch pc of pvc pipe ratchet strapped to it. More portable.

Hi, love the vids so far, best on the web i recon! I want to leave the fur on my hides. Can I follow the whole process exactly from beginning to end but just not cut the fur off? Thanks.

Graeme Cooper Ron said Fur on tanning is a bit different. We might have to do a short video on that.

Are there benefits in the final product to shaving the hair while dry versus soaking it til it slips?
@ronnail6488 Жыл бұрын
There is no advantage to soaking a hide until the hair slips. It is much easier to scrape a fresh hide than a sloppy wet hide. Shaving the hair just makes it easier to get started. Once you have a good start you don't really need to shave anymore hair but I do anyway, habit of doing it that way.

Hi Ron! Where can I buy such a double-edged fleshing tool? Thank´s alot! Manfred

Manfred did you ever find a double edge fleshing tool? I ordered the Post fleshing directly from them. Search google for Post fleshing knife.
