Addicted to your channel now. I'm a senior spa therapist, about 5 years in the industry and I just relate word for word. I've been the shittest therapist at some salons or the best therapist. I remember being scared of both waxing and nails, now I love both. Failed Brazilians in school. Now it's my bread and butter. But I think like anyone, still struggle with criticism and rude clients. I brush it off if it happens but some days (like today) it can get to you. I'm normally popular with relaxation massages. But I had a lady today who seemed unhappy during her hot stone, I think she was used to physios and remedials. I don't think it occurred to her a beauty therapist also performs massage treatments and also that relaxation is it's own style. I felt shit afterwards that I didn't explain the treatment or my qualification to her more. I assumed she knew what a day spa treatment was like. She was a little rude but I can understand her POV. Helped to watch this and feel less alone in the beauty industry! Xx

I agree with what you say regarding nails. Ive practiced on my feet and noticed lot of beauticians have different approaches to nails some are ok and some brilliant. Ive picked up and noticed and literally observed every technique they use.

I just want to say thank you!!! I just got a job as a Spa Therapist and I watched your video in how to prepare for the interview. It made a huge difference in how I approached the interview. I'm new in this field...I have SO much to learn, massages, nails, waxing from 0. I'm watching every single video of you and is making me feel confident! I have a feeling I'm going to love this industry but I'm definitely intimidated by the clients and how to work in this team environment. I know I'm not going to be the best Therapist in the first months but I'm going to get through it! Right? haha I'm curious if you still working as a Beauty Therapist? I hope you are doing amazing!!! THANK YOUUUUU

Great video again Melis. Did you listen to Adam Chatterley’s podcast about confidence? I’m proud to say that I asked him to do that episode. It is a problem for us and this video is going to be helpful to lots of therapists.

Melis can you do a video about deciding whether to get your own treatments done at your workplace or somewhere else? I want to support the salon I work in but my appointments are always cancelled and I don’t know if going somewhere else to get my own treatments done would betray my workplace? Thanks! 🙌🏻
@melisatesbel5 жыл бұрын
Annabelle Woodcock I feel like it depends on the treatments you want. I don’t see why you shouldn’t treat yourself to a massage and go for a spa day somewhere else. You’re not betraying the salon you work in. If they keep cancelling your appointment, you have no other choice unless you do your own treatments. The only thing that makes it a bit awkward is if a client likes your nails and you’ve had them done somewhere else 😅
