You think to much, you hope to much. Sit down and write some code, make a game. Does not matter if you dont know how, make some object move. Make something, everyday save everything so you can monitoring your progress. Stop thinking unless you are thinking about how to solve a specefic problem. Make a simulation to show the electric field calculated from the basic rules you know. Dont waste your life hoping, make it happen.

I always wonder how game developers can learn so many skills quickly. They have to be able to model, make art, do sound design, code (some of the time) and so much more. I'm going to university for game design and development and, honestly, having to be able to do all this is fucking terrifying. I'm certain that 3 years is not long enough to learn all this.
@christopherwashi4 жыл бұрын
I try to have fun when learn something new and then I can practice and refine it. Its great to start learn some stuff now. Game jams are cool for this
@nox52822 жыл бұрын
They make prototypes, they use ready made models or make very simple ones so they can show their vision. Then they foundrise to hire more developers to make their game into reality. For a solo game developer making a full game is not very realistic, like minecraft was possible cause of the very simple first version. Lookup how first version of facebook looked like for example.
@selindoga2 жыл бұрын
But we love that terrifying process😏
@gengargang45102 жыл бұрын
I know this comment it 2 years old but you don't need to learn all of this at all. You can specialize in a specific area you like programming, art, or writing, and stick to that. You will be working with a team on most instances, I wouldn't recommend being a solo developer because of the toll it takes and how counterproductive it is. However, if you want to learn multiple skills you totally can, just be aware that it is NOT necessary to learn all of these skills to be a game designer or developer. You typically specialize.

Why wait? Why not give it your best shot, even if the game sucks it will be experience. Save it, and then try again. Honestly if you just did weekly game jams for a year you would become a much better developer than most. Theory is not that useful, you pick up much more when you are doing projects over and over. Take it from someone who spent 10 years with theory.
