It's to do with what account is the primary one for the console so that setting is different per each account you may disable it on your account for instance but enable it on his account to make his primary it does mean you can't share your games with other users on your console if you've got any though.

Question: In this video you say that we need to stay logged into our account while the game is downloading on friends console? Has this changed from the PS4? Because my friend used to be able to just trigger to download on my account, then switch back over to his account and it would carry on downloading (reducing the need to stay logged in to my account for any period of time).

Yes they have to sign into your account to start the download of a game since you purchased it with your account, no they dont have to put any credit card information in. If you are worried that they will accidentally buy something then I suggest removing all payment methods from your account.

Btw I've been game sharing since the entirety of ps4 and since day 1 of ps5. You don't have to download the game for your friend to be able to download it. They just sign in to your account and go to you library and choose the game they want to download.

I think I have been given the wrong info by someone else and clearly from this video you are exceptionally experienced with your way around game share. I share a PS5 with my lad. I own a physical copy of HFW and was considering pre-ordering the Burning Shores DLC. However I have been told some info that has put me off buying it. As I share the same PS5 console with my son. I wanted us both to be able to play the DLC on our separate Playstation accounts (so we both can get our trophies), but I have been informed that nope, that even though we are both using the same PS5, if I order the DLC, it will only be available on the account that I order it on. Meaning for him to be able to play it, I would need to buy the DLC again and then when my wife chooses to play it, I would have to order the DLC in her account as well, leaving me having to purchase it 3 times even though we all use the same console. Is this really the case? Surely it can’t be? Some further info, if it helps or changes anything. I was gonna order it on my account, as I have played HFW and as yet neither my wife or boy has. However, the household PS-Plus account is in my boys name, not mine, so would it make a difference if I ordered it under the PS+ account holders name, rather mine or can I order it under any account and through game-share as we are all on the same console any of us could play then it? Another reason I was thinking of ordering it under my account, rather than his, is because at some point he will likely get it as part of PS+ package (seeing as HFW is already there), meaning that when he moves out I will still have access to it, assuming I buy my own console? Anyway sorry for the HUGE question, but you seem to really know your stuff and thought I should give as much info as possible.

Huh? Say you buy a game and your friend downloads it. You both can play it at the same time. Now on ps4 you have to wait to sign into your friends acct to download the game until they are offline or you will kick them offline. On ps5 you can go on your friends account at anytime to download a game and it won't kick them off

What’s the down side to doing this? Specifically to setting your friends console as your home console. For example, when I buy a new game via the PS mobile app, I assume that the “Download to PS5” button will now automatically download the game to my friends ps5 rather than mine, right? So do you have to keep the console on all the time? Like that’s kinda what it sounds like. I also wonder if you can do it with a ps5 and a ps4

Hey there, awesome video and great explanation. I have a question though since I am in a very particular scenario. I recently bought the PS5 and never had a PS4 so no issues there regarding transfering or sharing from PS4. However, I live in Uruguay and the price of the PS Plus Extra subscription was substantially cheaper in the Uruguaian store vs the US one, even more so with the black friday discounts so I went ahead and bought a 12 month subscription in the Uruguaian store. Now regarding game purchases, I found it to be way cheaper on the US store, so I went ahead and created a secondary account on my PS5 with US as its region and have been buying top up cards from G2A and redeeming the codes on my wallet and buying some games from the US store. So on one hand I have PS Plus Extra subscription on my Uruguay account and then I have bought many games on the US account. I don't intend to share with a friend for now but all I want is to be able to play all games (PS Plus Extra games and bought games) from any of those 2 accounts. Not sure which one I should use as my main as I still haven't started really playing online. Note that I also have 2 more accounts of my kids in which I would like for them to be able to access all games either subscription or bought from any of those 2 main accounts. I noticed that If I'm logged into the Uruguay account with the PS plus Extra sub, and go to the Game Library, under Your Collection I don't see the games I bought in the US account, I only see them under Installed if I installed them on the US account. So it's not ideal. So basically what I'm asking is which account should I be using as my main account to be able to play everything, subscription games and bought games. Is there a way to do this or do I have to switch from one to the other depending on the game? Also, is there a way to be able to play online on all accounts including the 2 of my kids that don't have their own subscriptions? Thanks a lot in advance! Take care, Juan.

If you want all the users to have online access you should enable console sharing on the user with PS Plus. You'll still only be able to play the games you purchased using the account that bought them so unless sharing the games with everyone is your priority, you'll just have to use that user to play your purchased games.

@@semicomprehensiveguide thanks for the reply. I do have console sharing on the account that has the ps plus subscription which is set to Uruguay as it was cheaper here. So the other accounts should be able to play all the ps plus games I download on that account right? But what happens to all the games that I bought on the other account which is set to US región as all games are cheaper to buy there. Will this account and the other 3 (ps plus account and my 3 kids accounts) be able to play these games and also be able to play online? I can enable console sharing on all 4 accounts if that’s necessary. I just would like all 4 accounts on my Ps5 to be able to enjoy the online play that ps plus subscription grants and at the same time that all 4 accounts could play all games bought on the US based account that has no subscription and play those games online using the subscription from the Uruguay account. Is this possible? Thanks!!!

@@nano0305 no, you can’t be able to play ps plus and its games and also play games in the us games account because you can only share contents of one account between the others, for example: if you have the account with ps plus extra with console sharing enabled you’ll be able to share the contents of that account, so in your case ps plus extra and its games, but at the same moment you can’t be able to play the US games in all accounts, but only in account where you bought them. No either or both of you can be offline and they can still play and download games

@@owenmeador3650 Thanks for your reply. But me and my friend discovered this when he got his PS5. So he has successfully downloaded and playing the games I purchased even when I am offline. Basically it is like 2 accounts on a PS5 and my friend can choose to download games from any of the 2 accounts. This video did not tell this.

I believe this is an official Sony feature and Sony has themselves created this as we have been using this successfully for 4+ months and everything is working extremely well. And if Sony had not created this feature in the first place, we couldn’t have set it up. Recently, we purchased the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on my account by splitting the money into two which he has downloaded from my PS5 account on his PS5 and this is also working great.

Do we have to enable console sharing on our Playstation or keep it disabled? The beginning of the video said to disable console sharing on our PlayStation but do we enable it once we finish installing on our friend’s console? Also, does our friend need to sign out of our account on their console to keep our games from being locked?

No you don't enable if you do that ypur lock your friend out u keep it disabled and he keeps it enabled like he said on the video

You don't need to download it for your friend. He can go into my library and download it himself. This video was kind of misleading and made it more confusing. You literally just need to sign in with their account and set enable for Share play then you can go to their library and download a game. Once you start download you can go back to your account no need to wait for it to download while on his account
