How to Gather Chickens vs How to Gather Cats !!

In this video, you'll see a comparison of how my grandmother calls and gathers her chickens and how I call and gather our cats. There are two ways to gather all of our cats together in an instant. The first one is predictable but the second one is really interesting..

About Our Channel:
This channel is about the daily lives and adventures of my three indoor cats Santi, Indy & Chewie and our 13 outdoor cats and my dog Walter.
Our outdoor cats are living in our garden and their names are D'Artagnan, The Rolling Cat, The Purring Cat, D'Artagnan's Girlfriend, Porthos, Zoom, Ruzgar, Junior, The Mom Cat, The Big Head, Pamuk Jr and Nope. We also have Pamuk who is our neighbor's cat but always hangs out here.

Apart from the videos of our cats, from time to time I also upload videos of other animals I come across.

It brought back memories from when I used to do the same when I was a little lass. Feeding the chickens, bringing them buckets of food and water, was my task, and I enjoyed it and their company. My favorite moment was when I opened the gate of their pen; the spectacle of happy cackling chickens flapping their wings and jumping over each other to get out and roam our property, was a delight to behold. It was a very nice task indeed, and I also got strong arms in the process 😉

Both my grandmas had chickens. My dad's mom had white leghorns, and once about 60 years ago we had a lot of snow blown into drifts around the farm outbuildings maybe 10-15 tall in places. Well, I wanted the chickens to enjoy the snow too so I let them out! My parents were filming my sister and I trying to climb the drifts, and if you looked very very closely you could see some of the chickens in the picture. White birds against white snow.🤗

As a guardian of both chickens and kitties, I approve of these methods and would like to contribute a few for horse gathering. 1. The sound of the wounded oat (shaken in bucket). 2. The sound of the wounded carrot (just one snap is all it takes, amazingly). 3. The sound of a starlight mint being unwrapped.

Years ago I used to wear a souvenir from a Japanese shrine on my bag. The little bell of that souvenir was tinkling when I was walking through the neighbourhood and all street cats were rushing to me. It took me a while to realize that they were associating the very soft sound of bell with me and the food coming their way. However I did not always had cat food with me, I was just going out for shopping or to work. But from the moment I realized that when cats hear the sound of my Japanese charm they understand that I am around and run to me for food, I began to buy cat food more often and always carry it in my bag or separate bag wherever I go. Since long I do not have that charm and other cats living in my neighbourhood, but I still use a social sound. It is a sort of whistle to let them know that I am around and brought them food.

I love this. My grandmother also had chickens, thousands of miles away in the middle of the countryside in Lincolnshire, England. But calling the chickens and feeding them is exactly the same. It also reminded me of my now all sadly deceased cat group. When I used to call 'Stanley', every cat except for Stanley would show up!

D’Art is very cautious by his many encounters with the vet. If u follow his story, Walter is the “designated” cat trapper for all of them when they need medical attention. And, I think D’Art finally realized he had to go for his injections 1X a month to help maintain his quality of life. Porthos is very shy, and is very tough to catch. But, the sound of canned cat food being opened usually does the trick in rounding them all up. 😻 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 😻 So happy to see new stories about my favorite cat family on the web! Thanks Walter!!

Even before those vet visits, D'Artagnan and Porthos seemed to be extremely cautious of humans. Over the years D'Art has come around somewhat while Porthos still has much of his guard up.

It’s sad, in a way, about Porthos being soooo shy. He has an idyllic life with his cat family. And, he likes certain cats more than others…well, he tolerates some members more. I really felt sorry for PJ in the beginning b/c Porthos was so passive-aggressive to him, almost immediately. PJ was barely 8wks old, and would have liked to be friends with him. So glad PJ walked away from what could have been a scrape which left him badly hurt. Pamuk and Junior really helped PJ be accepted by the group. Pamuk is an excellent Dad to little PJ…

I saw on YT a man in Istanbul who opened his store to cats during a vicious snow storm He put a sign on the store window that said if you don't like cats don't shop here. I had 36 cats at once and it didn't matter what their names was. All I had to do is yell out loud. "Here Kitty Kitty " and a stamped of cats came from all over 😹😸😻😼

Loved watching this! When I first adopted my two cats from the shelter, I played a KZbin video for them called Cat Strings. The video is just cats meowing and strings appearing on the screen. Now no matter where one cat is inside or out I just have to mimic the meow from the video and he comes running to jump in front of the tv. It’s amazing that after four years both cats know that meow and come running to the tv wanting to watch the video again. Our animals are much smarter than most people think.

When I was younger (I'm 76) it was the sound of any can opener. That still works - LOL. My "secret" sound is when I let the footrest down on my recliner. My handsome fella (8-month-old Willy) immediately goes to the kitchen (for canned food) and/or to my bed (for treats). No matter where he is in my house. Works every time. 🙂

The funniest video you posted in my humble opinion was the chicken leg tree. That video had me laughing for days and showed all my cat loving friends and they enjoyed it as much as me. Watching grandma with her kindness towards the chickens we now know why Walter is as kind as he is.

That first 'calling of the cats' by the opening of cat food tins reminds me of an old cartoon of Dennis the Menace. It is night and Dennis' parents are enjoying a late-night snack before bed. Dennis is supposed to be sleeping by now, when he suddenly appears at the door. His parents ask him why he isn't in bed. His reply, "I heard the plop of peanut butter on crackers."
