Your instruction is FANTASTIC! I’ve learned so much from you it’s amazing. Easing sleeves is an anxiety ridden experience and I can’t wait to try this out. Your humor, tone, and demeanor is infectious and even adds to the fun of sewing.

Joy, I have learned so much from your "techniques that work!" Today, the fact that the notches don't always match sure made my day! I find this all the time, no matter how careful I cut out the fabric. I thought it was me causing the notches not to line up. Thank you dear heart for stating that fact. Sure made my day! Hugs

Wow! I have seen Louise do that on a sleeve but had forgotten it. Thanks Joy! I have pretty much taught myself to sew by watching Sandra B, Linda Lee, Louise Cutting, Nancy Zieman, Peggy Sagers, and "some others!" So I enjoy your comments about "more than one way to do a thing!"

I can't wait to try this technique! I don't have many sleeves I've put in with gathering stitches, and still had fight not get any puckers. I loved that you mentioned Sandra Betzina, her shows were the best!

I thank you sooooo much for sharing this technique : I tried it on a mens lined jacket and it really works. I can't even begin to tell you how much I disliked doing sleeves for fear of the ease not laying right but this actually works. THANK YOU! !!!!XOXOX

Brilliant, thanks Joy. I used to hold pins in my mouth till I read about someone swallowing a pin that ended up in their lung. They had to have an operation to remove. No pins in mouths 👄 pretty please 🙏

At 10:28 great tip for taking the ease out of the sleeve. Great tips before that too about making the shoulder seam as invisible as possible (press it towards front) etc.
@victoriabyrne43032 жыл бұрын
that said, I only had success doing it the other way around, wrapping the 2 layers around my finger but with the garment layer right on my finger first and sleeve layer on top. It makes sense to me that the sleeve (which has the extra fabric) has to travel further around the curve. Either way it's a brilliant, instinctive way to replicate the curve of the shoulder and so much easier! Thank you!
@Joy4650B2 жыл бұрын
It actually works either way for me. Good thing, because I'm not sure which part goes on top. LOL

The 2 notches are at the back because more ease is needed for arm movement. Will have to try doing sleeves this way in future. Thank you Joy.

You're hilarious!! (No one would have noted that band-aid!). Love the sleeve technique, but would that work for cotton as well or only knits? Also, you're too close to camera--step back a little ☺️

You are supposed to stay stitch the garment before you put the sleeve in...

Don't put a pin in your lips , teeth , mouth ! Please Joy , you are busy talking , sewing and I am so afraid you will suck that pin into your body , lungs or whatever ! Don't tell me you've done that and never sucked it into your lungs before ! I know that is true and you may never have a problem . I worry . I'm older than you , I'm almost 78 ! Please listen to me , take care of yourself !
