Can a bad mode shifter motor cause the ge washer to only spit a small amount of water and stop and have the fill light lite but nothing happen after that, washer times out and thats it? The trouble code is 5

It was the mode shifter, it was getting water dropped on it from the tub seal, which was on the transmission shaft. Replaced mode shifter, worked, new one took water as well, so technically it was tub seal and mode shifter

With an ohm meter
