For anyone else struggling with this or had to make their own and have no idea why the black part of the leaf keeps showing up. Go to the materials tab on the right for the leaves and under settings you need to change the blend mode and shadow mode to alpha clip.

@@simongarrettmusic Dunno but I always have problems with tutorials on youtube leaving necessary processes out. Often these guru's have adjusted many things over time while making other products/videos and it was a minor oversight but to us, it caused the whole process to fail.

some people call me a professional modeler now, but all i do is if ever there is a chance to do it lazy like sapling tree gen addon, i will do it and while i indeed may be a professional on some front, information like this is completely new to me and since i know so much already from over 2 thousand hours of blender for the last year, it's much more easy to follow. good tutorial, solved the exact idea i had but one thing that i will test on my own is if animated trees are actually animated after turning them from curve to mesh

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Exactly what i needed for my current project. I found out, that the "random per island"-Function currently doesn't work in EEVEE. I therefore used the Texture Coordinate - Normal Output to control the Hue-Value which gave similar results (if anyone else is struggeling with this step in EEVEE). Edit: oh I saw that you mentioned that at the end of the video. Somehow it also just works on the front-side of the leaves, not on the back-side

this incredibly informative, especially with node setups, and the way we see different nodes taking effect on scene. brilliant! edit: sooooo random per island setup for color variation, doesnt work. it randomly selecets a value and applies that value to all the leaves together instead of random per island. how to make this cool effect now? im using blender 4, this gotta be about version that im using.
@kulewa16 ай бұрын
Agree with this. I had the same result. The effect only goes to the leaves as a whole, not the individuals.

With this amount of leaves, I’m guessing it’s not suitable for using it in a game engine? Does sapling have options to generate lower poly count leaves, using bigger and less amount of planes?
@thesteaksaignant3 жыл бұрын
you can create less planes and make them branches instead of leaves. You download or create a texture for an entire (small) branch containing a dozen of leaves, and use that instead of the single leaf texture. if you do that, reduce the number of branches of the initial tree, since this technique is going to add more.

The disable scene world doesn't do anything for me. Why? The tree remains white and fake looking (unlike the more rendered look in t his tutorial). It gives me more options that are not shown here when I de-select the scene world like "rotation", "strength", "world opacity" and a little scroll menu with some different worlds I guess... could it be a newer version of Blender? I've never used it before so I am a complete beginner to this.
