This helped me very much. I've struggled with two things 1) coming up with content 2) the fact that I thought the story WAS the joke. What I got from your presentation is that the story is just a vehicle/medium to tell the jokes. I just started writing stuff this way (taking just a topic and then writing about a story from my life that comes up as a result, then letting the writing go where it goes.) Currently I've written a first draft about the time my parents tried to have me kidnapped by working at a gas station on the interstate in the 1980s, at the height of milk carton celebrity. Well, I'm please by the results. Thank you for sharing, and I am glad I finally found it!!!

My take on the task - distilled it a bit. "I think a car can reveal a lot about the person. What they value. Some value safety and the "accepted" safe choice. Other people want something that shows status and and adventure. A lot of these people have an everyday car - but have a secret mistress car that's fun and exciting. When I had a gf I used to drive. Now I don't drive anymore. I just take bus to where I'm going - don't got a girlfriend anymore." I wanna say I've heard something along lines somewhere.

Coming back to this video - I saw I did the practice. Hmm the relation between cars and relationship is a bit shallow but I'm just surprised I did it. I think it would require a lot of editing to make it funny.

Hey man, share something here! I found out that the only opinions that could ever matter to an inspiring comedian is the opinions of other joke writers. Friends and family and strangers will always just say if you are funny or unfunny. Comedy peers will give feed back and suggestions. Never accept any opinions that say your idea hasn't potential. Offer your ideas for consideration and not put right rejection
