The Fun Pimps keep adding quality of life mechanics versus annoying grindy tedious mechanics at a rate of 1 to 5. The magazine thing is probably the straw that broke the camel's back for me. 1,500 hours played since A14 and I can't stand the game anymore. Now the trader progression can be broken by a built in function (map creation) because they wanted to tinker with how well players can do. I am a miner/builder and not a raider. The game is broken for me now because of the stupid trader and magazine systems.

Sorry that the game has not gone in the direction you like. I started with A11 and things have certainly changed a great deal. I just can't stop loving all the good and bad things all the time. Maybe I need some medical intervention?!

I agree, the learn by looting is annoying. But I don’t think it is game breaking. You can always give yourself the magazines necessary for building and then play the way you want.

@lho10101 good point just spawn them in. That might be a good modlet too with everything unlocked for those who don't want that feature. I am certainly getting some good ideas from all of these lovely comments.

Great video. My only gripe with the map generator is that you get mountains no matter what. I always set mountains to 0, but I still end up with them anyways.

I have to do some extensive testing and report back in a future video. First I will be updating my world generation mods. Maybe I will see something there when I get into the XML.

Good video, Reason we would want more night: I did that a few times, increasing the number of minutes per day and hours per night. It gives a more relaxed playthrough where you have more time at night at your base to prepare for the next day, craft and read (quite important when you play an overhaul mod like Darkness Fall etc.) But you may want a mod that increases the duration of lootbags so they don't disappear on Bloodmoon nights

How do you use your 12k mod to generate advanced maps? It dosnt show up when I go into advanced generation😢

i keep on generating and end up getting only dessert and plains, no snow or wasteland whilst set at 15 percent

Is a bit odd the current generation system. Try increasing the number by a little bit and see what happens. I have also seen this happen when the numbers are low - sometimes it just doesn't bother adding them!?

The Pimps of Fun took away the generation of cities in the forest biomes. I am working on modlets!

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet but I figured out through trial and error. When you select the "Line" Biome layout, it will generate the map from smallest to largest. So, lets say you make Forest 14%, Burnt Forest 25%, Desert 18%, Snow 20%, and Wasteland 23%. From left to right your biomes will be Forest>Desert>Snow>Wasteland>Burnt Forest. So if you want your biome at different order that's one way to achieve it.

Also, the closer in percentages your biomes are, the straighter the lines will be. So if all your biomes are 20%, the lines will be very straight up and down. If however you have one biome that's 11%, while the largest biome is 36%, the lines will start bending and warping around each other, making more interesting maps in my opinion.

That's actually so good to know, I don't like it going desert > snow > wasteland. Id prefer snow and dessert to be switched. I think ill have to do that for next world! Thank you!

Sorry I do not understand. Skyscrapers are placed on the maps the game generates? The default game only places a few of these now.

The warning in the map generator appears because sometimes there are no traders in a certain biome. So trader progression is broken at this point. This can happen if you turn the percentage really low for one single biome and also create a very small map. I successfully forced the bug to appear. Sorry for my bad english ;)

Make sure once you have generated the map you either click the button to play the map or click back then the option to save it. Keep an eye out for the random name of the map generated at the top of the screen which you should find, if it saved, in the list of maps available.

@@Phys1csGamez Hey I appreciate you taking the time to respond. So I generate a map, and then click back, save the map, but it doesn't show up. Are you saying if I click the "start" button in the advanced screen, then exit, that will populate it in the basic map gen screen?

If you hit start then you will go straight into the game and the map will be saved. Yet if you click back and click on save it will do the same thing and save it.. you would then have to start a new game from the main menu and choose the correct map with the name that it gave it. If you still have problems then we won't be able to sort it through YT comment. Please feel free to find me on my discord and I will happily go through and check what is going on.

10:00 Quick Question: Is there a better way to save those maps? Because hitting the back button, saving it with "Okay" then going back into the random world generator and having to setup all of those settings all over again with a different worldseed is very tedious and time-consuming. I liked the ones from Alpha 21 and before where, every generated world you made was "Automatically" saved without "Manually" saving or clicking on an option or hitting the back button to do so...That can be very annoying. Other than that, this is a great video to understand how each works (Even the checkerboard patten on some spots I had no idea those was player spawn points, whether they started a new game or died and do not have a bedroll placed somewhere).

"Other than that"...lol. I don't make the game so it is not my decision to change this :) I like the change! It stops a load of maps being saved when you are generating a load of maps to get the one you want. Yet not saving the options is very annoying. I will try to look into making a mod that changes the the default settings when you run the mod!

@@Phys1csGamez (Sighs) I know you heuh....I know you didn't make the game, but for me it saved me a lot of time of generating maps. And if you didn't make a map or generated it by mistake, I can easily go to the appdata, roaming, 7daystodie, Generated Maps, and delete them from there. BUt when V1.0 came out, not only the controls were tough to get used to, but generating maps and not being able to save them felt really off. The options for it were great, just not the part where saving the maps was constantly clicking back and fourth between them. If you do make a mod for it, I'd gladly take it but take your time though with creating one if it'll take a while to modify it and throw it into my appdata mods folder.

My only gripe is I want a full plain world. No stupid hills or mountains but nope. We have to have hills for some stupid reason. I realize there is at least 2 new POI that require a hill and a mountain but why. will it always create 50 hills?

No no no. Console mate. You just get the game. All the changing of settings, modding, mapping, overhauls and fancy stuff is over here on the PC.

Ok that is great. I guess they just wanted the raffle to be stable so proper testing could be done for random gen. You just can't have people creating thousands of maps in console with loads of written unused data lying around.

Hey thanks for the video, im new to the game. I was wondering if there is a way to change teh amount of spawn points in multiplayer custom maps. I know of the way to edit the files after creating the world but not sure if they made an easier way to do it. I just want to play with friends and spawn in the same spot.

Editing the file is the only way. Just delete all the lines except the first coordinates and enjoy the game with your friends. Welcome to all the fun of 7 days to die.

I came back to this game when i saw the 1.0 anouncement a few days ago... I remember when you had to wait something like 30 minutes to 1 hour to generate the map lol

Yes times have reduced a lot which is nice. No longer is a NASA PC required to get on with your game. Gald you are back to 7DTD :)

Tried to mess about with generation tool also, I did noticed that even if I remove any water still water shows on the first town where you been sent to, and also hills and mountains, whatever you choose makes no differences. I put all flat and ended with crazy mountains with broken roads :)

Cool Video, I was wondering, is there anyway to see the map previewer after you've started your game? My map seems to have nothing but small towns and traders out in the middle of nowhere.... lol

Your guide for massive cities works in 1.0 btw. The mod wont, not until its updated for 1.0 but I was able to hard edit the rwg xml to achieve this no problem. Also need to change traders spawns to forest for all of them so quests progression isnt broken.

I attempted to generate more than one map and on every try I haven't got any animal spawns like there's no trace of boars, deer and wolves.

That is not to do with map generation. 1.0 had a severe reduction in animal availability. I will eventually get round to making a modlet for that.
