Cheers Steve, totally excellent explanation, too many people hit the ball way too hard and love hearing the balls hit the back of the pocket, you always explain things in simple easy to understand terms and that you don't always have to use 100%, you are a top coach

Thanks Steve, another good video. I am struggling with where the cue ball goes when it come off the object ball, could you do a really detailed video on understanding where the cue ball is going to go, depending on the shot you play starting with plain ball and moving on from there. Thanks.

I have the same problem the angle that cue ball deflect from ob
@MrXeberdee2 жыл бұрын
You should work this out yourself. Set up a straight shot, and then move 10 degrees at a time and watch what happens. A 15 degree shot will deflect at about 5mins past the 12 o'clock that is the straight path of the white (line of shot). Most plain ball shots between 10 and 30 degrees are around that, but the max angle (45 deg) sends the ball to about 7.5 mins past, over or under that and the white will move back towards 12 o'clock ending up at straight for a straight shot or an 89.99 degree cut.

Love watching your videos Steve, I’m rubbish at snooker with a top break of 30 but your videos show the science that is involved and you make it look easy….

Mate most watching these videos are around the same level don't get down
@MrXeberdee2 жыл бұрын
30 is good - nothing wrong with that. Most players hang around under that level as it is the average potting ability for an average focus. I know people who have played their whole lives, and still only get 40's every now and again. To get higher, takes dedication, patience and a shit load of work on your cue action. I'm starting to feel the rewards of 4 or 5 hours a day, for the last two years - but my max is still only 57.

I wonder is the American bridge an advantage when it comes to these shots. The finger loop holds the cue down therefore not allowing the cue to jump up and slip off the top of the white.

hi can you help me with vision centre and head position problem? my cue is online but my brain tells me that its not correct. my right eye is the dominant eye but i normally cue centre chin . i have to tilt my head alot to the left while cueing centre chin and it really feels uncomfortable but thats only when i can see straight line, however if i put the cue under my dominant eye right eye, i still have have to tilt my head to the left but its not as much but still feels uncomfortable. so without tilting my head i cannot see a straight line straight when down. how do i fix this ???? tnx alot

Having the cue parallel to the table and for sure enough follow-through are also the keys. Thank you @Steve ince more for the lessons. BTW, I might be wrong, but I just noticed that the rate of unintentional side spin (and missing the pot) is more when I use top spin. Vice-versa, I'm more successful with the stun. Any advice about it?
@BartonSnooker2 жыл бұрын
You are right, when striking with top spin, and intentional side spin will throw the white off-line a lot more easily.

Really enjoying these videos. Started to get a bit more practice now and looking to improve my consistency. I always find that I'm quite hot or cold when playing. One thing I have noticed is my back hurting after about an hour of playing. Could this be stance, or just my general posture in life having an efect?

You're probably just not used to getting your body into the snooker position. The more you do it, the more your muscles will get used to it 👍

Hi Steve. Is the Yello ball placed exactly in the middle of the cushion. Any way I found your explanation very useful. Thank you very much.
@BartonSnooker2 жыл бұрын
No, it's just placed at the correct point for the natural cannon. It all depends on the angle you have on the red as to where the white will go.
@markgilmore20772 жыл бұрын
Great info as always Steve. One question: When pros land low on the blue and need to go round the baulk colours, they do seem to hit the white very hard and get a lot of acceleration after contact with the blue. Is this successful simply because their cue action is so perfect? Cheers.
@BartonSnooker2 жыл бұрын
It's because they're only just-off straight. So even if the white does jump and leave the table, once it lands it has LOTS of top spin remaining because of all the power, then it grips and accelerates forward. Once you understand the effects I talk about in the video, you can then use these things to your advantage and get the white spinning how you would like.
@MrXeberdee2 жыл бұрын
@@BartonSnooker This is a good idea for a video - I think every player needs to learn how to get in and out of baulk without bumping into stuff, especially to get the white into position for the next ball. It crops up all the time in games.
