For those who are curious, this changes your DNS (Domain Name Server) from your ISPs to a Google Public DNS. Some ISPs just have terrible DNS, so switching to Google's, which inherently have plenty of bandwidth, can improve things drastically. You can do the same operation in your router settings as well.

Ahhhh KZbin.... where the clueless can pretend they understand networking when they don't. A "bandwidth test" is not the same as actual download speeds. Changing the damn DNS server you are using (from the one assigned to your router by your ISP to Googles) has NOTHING to do with how fast your internet connection is it only affects how quickly a server will be found....unless for some unfathomable reason there are different servers that just HAPPEN to use DNS names stored on the GOOGLE DNS servers vs your ISPs. This "fix" only affects the download test and NOT actual downloads.

Wow, 3 years later and it still doubled my speed from 1.4mbps to 4.8mbps, I’m sure there are better ways by now but this helps so thank you!
