I connected my 5.1 surround sound computer speakers to my Gateway laptop with a 3 .5 cable splitter. Now I get sound not just in the two front speakers but also the two rear speakers all the time

Excellent. Not for the fill idea, but to know KZbin doesn't enable 5.1 sound on music videos.
@HanSolocambo Жыл бұрын
It's not KZbin it's the whole Internet. Surround 5.1 exists for 47 years. And Internet Browsers and websites are still all : in stereo. That's just insane...

Thank you. Years ago, Google Chrome had speaker fill option but they took it off. Now my friends problem is solved, because we can rob signal from front audio to everything else. Motherboard front audio socket may get burned over the years, but that MB is very old and cheap. I have HTR-6230 receiver and Toslink combined with Creative Sound Blaster Z so I can put speaker fill from my receiver. Analog is quite dead these days if I compare the sound quality to digital and ease of use. I bought soundcard because you need decoder to get surround working.

Hey, thanks for this brilliant idea! I have 2 way splitter, but didn't got this idea... It works great. Why don't you plug the orange cable also in the splitter? So that the center speaker also works. I didn't understand what will mess this up. I have only a 2 way splitter and it works fine with center/sub and rear speakers for example. My solution to this issue, long time ago, was to buy a Creative x-fi audio card for the PC, it has option for Surround sound, creating nice sound from stereo to play on all speakers. This is only for the PC, for laptop I didn't have a solution till now. The creative card died, so I bought 2nd hand older creative audigy, which was for older windows xp, but I managed to get it running on win8.1, so still using it.

Hello friend I do not know if u are still reading comments. I have upgraded my PC and my old one had correct Audio Fill with Subwoofer. So I could enjoy my 5.1 surround with proper bass all the time. But new PC IDK why but software does not allow that. So the orange could go to splitter too to enjoy Subwoofer or it does not have to ? .. Anyway thanks for the tip I will definetly try this .

Dude That is not 5.1 surround at all. Your Title is wrong, this is merely stereo sound with the two front speaker channels split between 4 loads at two speakers per channel. When you do actually play surround media like from gaming or some movies that support surround you will not hear everything from the 5.1 or 7.1 you will only hear the two front speaker channels coming out your two pair of front channel speakers. In other words, While you will have sound from all four speakers, they are not playing sound from four separate channels. I you were to do this with a pre amplified sound system you would be losing your finals PDQ.

@@rickdeckardbladerunner2049 when two speakers are wired in parallel as he is doing with each channel. If the speakers are the same ohm value then he effectively cut the load resistance in half, doubling the current required to drive them. The end result the finals get fried. I have leaned early on that everything electric runs on smoke. Because every time I let the smoke out of the circuit it quits working. A little shop humor there.

Actually i also had such a way on the mind at some point, but didnt do it, because it felt wrong, as its not 5.1 any more. Thus i installed everything my On-Board Realtek AC1220 and with the Realtek Audio Console Software, i set up the speaker settings and also super important the environment, if one does not do the last one, you hear nothing at all from reag speakers. Also because the rear ones are not as loud as the front ones i tuned down the volume of the front ones.

You mean that the .1 is LFE , not subwoofer. You are using the subwoofer as either a crossover speaker or as a “play bass” speaker. However a subwoofer doesn’t play music or audio.

cause he don't have a clue what hes doing with a title saying "How to get 5.1 Surround Sound to work ALL THE TIME on your computer" its not 5.1 nore is it Surround Sound it what ya call quadraphonic if it was really separate front and rear and can be turned on with out the splitter in win10 in the sound control panel and you get real separate front and rear. the right way is to set up 5.1 in win10 in the sound control panel and turn on 5.1 in chrome browser or if he cant figure that out buy a 5.1 up mixer with amp to connect speakers to then use spdif or hdmi to get the audio from pc

So now all your speakers are just playing the same thing and you never have any 3d sound ever. This isn't a fix... it's a tradeoff. The proper solution is to download the audio control application from the manufacturer of your motherboard. ALL boards with 5.1 outputs will have a free application for your board that will allow for advanced options like Speaker Fill. I have a gigabyte board so i downloaded the app from gigabyte, ez pz.

Unfortunately the way you are doing it is not true surround sound. With proper surround sound software and a video game that supports surround sound fixes it. PC has been screwed by lazy Microsoft and the gaming community. Downloading and installing proper software to configure each speaker is the only way to do it.
