Ive tried the burstlapse on a6300. ended up with some 6000X3376 resolution (i took 16:9 photos) and kind of 11 ? fps . THIS IS GREAT. I filmed steady closeup of my face and than made an "eye transition" which i desperately tried to do several times before on HD and UHD. But with higher resolution, the effect is flawless... But the shot has to be really steady. Somebody may argue that i can use still photos for this kind of effect as well, but there is a difference. and the difference is subtle motion. This has been very helpful. One of the best videography channels on youtube...

the trick will work far better with a9. 20fps and maximum 241 frames(about 12s) of raw photo or 362 frames(about 18s) of jpeg. just needs to add 20% of playback speed.

This video is the gift that keeps on giving. Been experimenting with my a6500 (11.1 fps in Hi+ burst mode) since it came out. DaVinci Resolve actually works really well to slow things down convincingly (25% and slower) or add motion blur for scenes you want to appear at more normal speeds. Still recommend doing the initial color adjustment in Lightroom / Camera Raw. Thanks again!

@frankeeeej6 жыл бұрын
This was a completely unnecessary and completely impractical experiment. I love it. Do you think you could get a longer burst with external recording? (Or maybe you could overclock and software-hack the camera and combine it with water cooling or something to get a faster fps? something for a next experiment perhaps ;) )

I think I know a company whose software might be able to "figure out" the in-between missing frames if you convert the 12fps to a 24fps timeline with "A and B frame , where A stands for "valid frame" and B stands for "missing" frame and you only need to figure out the B(x) frame between A(x) and A(y) frames. I think it's not that "superstitious" as it sounds first. It will be a pain in the ass workflow but hey - no pain , no gain....... 2000$ camera 8k raw 15dr footage and an Alexa is like 80.000$:))) - let's do some investigation ... It won't be as good probably as real life but it is worth a shot

I can see this being useful for a company that makes the intro sequences to TV shows. If you're going to spend an extra few hours on some footage, it makes more sense if people are going to see it over and over again. I could also see more flexibility with cropping the res as though you were shooting 6k on a red normally or something.

Great video! Love your channel. One question, would using optical flow help turn those 10fps into 20fps and have smoother motion in the video? Also If what you want is Raw video and you don't need 8k but you want longer recording time could you shoot in super 35 mode and so since the files are a lower resolution your buffer takes longer to fill? Oh and on the a9 can you adjust the burst mode to shoot 12fps instead of 20? If the optical flow thing works that would make 24fps and the buffer would last even longer than at 20fps burst mode.
