Daniela, I am a senior in high school and I was wondering if you happen to have any tips on how you applied and got accepted into engineering at UT because I am planning on attending there next year?

Carlos Garcia S4L hi! (I'm going to be a chemical engineering major btw, just to give you a more specified answer!). So the biggest tip I have it to get started on your application as SOON AS POSSIBLE! That way you have more time to look over your essays and improve your application overall without feeling the pressure of a deadline. In terms of engineering, I would send your SAT/ACT score that has the best math subscore. Since UT doesn't superscore, your best bet is to impress with an awesome math subscore, not an overall great superscore. As for your essays, really include your interest in your specified major, career plans, science, math, etc. this shows that you are passionate and really care about your intended major. (ALSO INCLUDE HOW UT WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!!) Don't forget to include any clubs or extra curriculars or awards that have to do with STEM in your application. All of this I think really enhanced my application personally. (I was a part of multiple STEM clubs at my school and attended STEM summer camps at various universities throughout the summers of my high school career). Also, it really helps to be in the top 6-7% of your class and have a good GPA. (At the time that I applied, I was in the top 1% of my class and I had taken 9 AP classes, many of which were in STEM) (This isn't everything though, so really bring yourself out in your essays)! If you have any more questions, let me know!
