I heard RoundUp and WeedBgone kills grass too so I'mhesitating to use them. Before I found your channel, I had used TurfBuilder Pro (32-0-4) a few weeks ago and that didn't help.. Hey Doc, fellow Georgian who stumbled onto your youtube channel about a month ago which coincided with the cancellation of my national lawn service company. I won't name any names but they Tru-ly left a lot to be desired. I started on your program a month ago with PGF, Duo, granular fungicide, & liquid fungicide. The lawn has really greened up and is looking much healthier, but I'm noticing a lot of nutsedge, clover, and other weeds sprouting up (whatever pre-emergent the national company used didn't do the trick). We're going to be in the 90s for the foreseeable future so how would you approach this with the concern being applying post-emergent could hurt the bermuda? or is it a necessary step back to get rid of current weeds, then apply the heavy pre-emergents in the fall and again in early spring to break the cycle of weeds? Thanks for your time, I love learning about all this!
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
It's tough to tackle weeds when your lawn is looking good and the weather is HOT..... Just be real careful and maybe wait for break in the weather to cool. You COULD do a granular PE without too much concern... but even still it's tough. It does help that we are getting rain.
@kevinstenger43344 жыл бұрын
My son-in-law made the mistake of using your national company a couple of years ago in Michigan. We were there visiting and I looked at the little ticket that tells what they did and noticed something interesting, their treatment was based on 2000 square feet of lawn but they are on an acre with 15,000 square feet of turf. I told him I don’t care what they put down, it will be ineffective at that rate. He gave them another chance and they were supposed to come and fertilize and aerate while I was there. He called me from work to ask how they did and I told him they hadn’t been here yet but two different trucks of theirs had driven by and went to other houses. He called me back and said the guy was adamant that they had been here, I told him I was out in the yard all day and I challenged the guy to come out and show me one granule of fertilizer or one hole in the lawn. He called them back and told them they were fired and would not be getting paid. Good riddance.

Don't try to go by the numbers on the spreader. Calculate the pounds you need for your square footage, & add that to the spreader. Use the smallest setting that allows it to still come out and go over your entire yard (twice if necessary) until the spreader is empty. Yes, I weighed mine the first time & measured it in a container like doc did with his gallon jug. Now I know what "volume" my poundage looks like. Hope that made sense.

Hey doc, I threw down the cheap organic material and now I have a lot of birds flying in to feed ..... is that expected ? Cos I’m getting tired of the resulting bird poo all over the place .....
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
Never have I had a bird issue. But I do wet mine that night and water down into the thatch. Also, check for worms. When I see lots of birds it's usually something like army worms.
@kapilkirpekar34334 жыл бұрын
How To with Doc omg, I’ll check right away. Thank you.

One teaspoon of dawn in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Flood an area and look to see what floats up.

How To with Doc ..... hey doc, did the test !!! Holy cow ...... I had about 20 worms in 3 sqft..... immediately put down duocide and watered it in ..... and 45 mins later my lawn was ‘moving’...... those darn worms were coming up and squirming (assuming dying).... is that normal ? Can I go back and reapply duocide in 2-3 weeks ?

It comes in a 40lb bag. There may be other sizes, but that's the one I know about

Hey Doc, what type of Bermuda do you have in your lawn?
@petalacres36864 жыл бұрын
It’s a hybrid. He’s not sure of the exact type because it was already planted when he bought the house.

Hey doc how do I prevent mushrooms in my lawn?
@curtmorehouse14 жыл бұрын
Mushrooms are a sign of plenty of water and a healthy soil. As ugly as mushrooms can look, they are a great sign. Hit them with weed whacker between mowings if they bother you. You can't prevent them unless you want to hurt your yard.

Hi Doc, I was reviewing the 2020 Lawn Guide and for this time of year it says applying PGF with highs in the 90s is "possible". Do you recommend applying if highs are near 100, as we go into July, or should we wait until lower 90 temps to apply PGF again?
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
We have put it down at the half rate all through the HOT of the summer and with irrigation. But we just don't want to PUSH it during this period. It's OK to chill for a while and wait too.

Is there any such thing as too much Humid DG?
@petalacres36864 жыл бұрын
I don’t think so. When it was a new product, he did some testing and put it out extremely extremely thick on the grass and it had no negative affects. It’s not a fertilizer of any kind.

Wait did anyone hear what the 2 things he put down were? I think I missed it 😏😉

No... we have had just amazing rain the past 60 days. Almost too much.

Thanks, Doc! Working on fixing lawn. It's a 6-year old Tifway Bermuda (I think) that DR Horton slapped down on a Central Texas clay soil base. =) I've gone through all the major brands (N-ext, Milo, PGF, Humichar, etc).
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
Just make sure you get a soil test. It can be an eye opener.

How about PGF + HumiChar + PGR in one DG bag? That would be amazingly simple for those going reel low! 😎
