I just completed my 2-din install on a non-nav radio unit, was very easy after watching your video. I had to remove about 1/4 inch from the sides and top of the bezel for the install kit to fit correctly. What I did different was, not mounting the bezel to the head unit, I left it separate for easy installation as a separate unit. Since all the bezels were removed for this, I removed the push buttons and controls for the AC and cleaned each component. I didn't like the silver color of the bezels so, I looked locally for a matching wood wrap and settled on a black leather wrap instead. I did have issues in the areas above the vents but, it works for me.

Hey Josh does this work with thx premium sound system
@joshpatten4 жыл бұрын
Yes, my car had the THX system in it, it essentially takes the speaker level outputs from the aftermarket head unit and sends them to the OEM amplifier. A word of caution, if your head unit outputs a lot of power it will cause distortion at higher volumes as the amplifier is gain matched to the much lower power output of the OEM head unit.

My head unit has a blue and yellow wire for the steering controls, how does that hook up? Thanks
@joshpatten6 жыл бұрын
It depends on your head unit, you may need a steering wheel control module from someone like PAC. This Sony head unit doesn't need one because the buttons are custom programmable, but, for example, a JVC head unit would need one because the buttons are not custom programmable. If you've connected the steering controls wire on the head unit to the steering controls wire on the wiring harness and it's not working you'll probably need to get a steering wheel control module.

does this work if your car doesnt have Nav?

The non-nav dash has a different opening, so I don't believe so.

Hey Josh..I decided to keep my fact radio..However, im getting this weird high pitch sound when i turn my heated seats on..( doesnt do it when i turn the cool seats).. We re-worked the ground and that seem to help from OMG wtf is that sound to bearable but still annoying..Any ideas what else could go be with it..I think next year i will install a DD..
@joshpatten37827 жыл бұрын
You know, I've noticed this even having replaced the amp and the head unit. I'm not sure there's much that can be done about it. No other noise enters the system at any point, only when the heated seats are used...

Thanks..Tried ground loop iso that didnt do anything. I called the folks at Audio Control who told me to use shorter RCA cables and ground it i believe he said to the where the battery is grounded at..Its so annoying..My friend says if i would of went w a aftermarket unit it probably would make it go away..It sucks..

Does the backup beeper still work with an aftermarket stereo I can’t find this answer anywhere
@joshpatten5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a completely separate system with a separate speaker on the 2007-2009 models.

Josh Patten thank you so much! I for some reason always thought it ran through the stereo.

I tried using your steps but the double din I got was wider. So I ended up just trimming me panel.
@joshpatten6 жыл бұрын
I guess each double din is slightly different, so much for "standard" sizes...

I would have liked to have a clean look like yours ended up, by using the factory opening but I had to open mine up. Still came out nice in the end. That was with not using a install kit. I just bolted the unit to the stock brackets.
