Great insight! I especially like your analysis on the open tryouts in the US. I recently tried out at one of these events and it was a great experience. However your point about experience and chemistry is absolutely correct! I was making give and go runs all day long and I never received the ball back after darting down the wing countless times. I hoped that the coaches would at least notice the intelligent movement and intent but it wasn't meant to be... Will try one last time next year with slightly different tactics. Maybe I'll keep hold of the ball next time. Thanks for the tips!

That’s had good results for me in the past 👍

Had gone for tryouts as a right back for a league on turf yesterday: Lessons learnt: 1: Be composed and relaxed. Do not put pressure on yourself 2: I had not got turf shoes. So had to wear spare shoes which the ground staff provided. The shoes were almost flat so I was like skating. Carry your own shoes, clothes, etc. which you are comfortable in with or without the ball. 3: I am decent at dribbling but did not dribble even once yesterday. I should have tried out to dribble atleast once. 4: Decide a position you will be playing and take control of that position. 5: I did not play tough. Play tough but not rough. 6: I should have played and practiced with the ball on the tryout turf more before the tryouts. 7: I let the opposite teams player too much freedom and was too casual in one play. This allowed him to take a shot. Do not underestimate the opposite player. 8: I ensured that I keeper an arms length from the player rather than commit because catching up would be difficult. 9: I should have tried to read the game, look around without the ball to see my teams players and other teams players. So I know what action to take once I get the ball 10: I did not go in open spaces to ask for the ball. 11: Be confident that you are a good player.

Wooow it's a lot more easy todo get a semi professional team in the US than in Mexico, where i'm from, In my experience lots of mexican teams look up for the money instead of the player, that's really sad, however i has the oportunity to played at a semi pro level and it's really awsome, I think i would had a longer carrer if i would go to the US, great video bro!!!

I myself have actually tried out for two different pro teams. The Atlanta United 2 & the Birmingham legion. Both who play in the USL. Both tryouts were a 3 day trial & I made it to the last day for both of them. Exactly like Michael said in the video, in an open trial there's ppl of all skill level in attendance. When I went to try out for the legion, on the first day it was about 95 ppl at the tryout. 30 were college players while the rest were amateurs players. And by amateurs I mean someone who isn't currently playing college, semi pro or professional, which is what I was & still am. It seems even though I'm an "amateur" player I was better than the majority of the ppl trying out. As I was able to make it to the third & final day. On the third day, that number got cut drastically from 95 down to 14. It was me & 13 other college players. Now the majority of the college players on the third day were D2 with some being D1. And as far as I know, not one of us got signed to the Legion. Even though in my opinion, everyone on the third day was without a doubt a skilled player. But once again as Michael said or even as become elite said these teams holding the open tryouts don't actually have to sign anyone. And truthfully I'm sure plenty of teams do it as a way just to make extra money. Open tryouts can be a very good thing for aspiring soccer players but at the same time there definitely not without cons.

Negotiations just means the agreement between you and the club you’re playing for. It’s different for every club.

Lotanna Lawrence They will usually sit down with you in an office, have a contract offer on a piece of paper for you to read, if you are happy with what they are offering (money, accommodation etc) You can sign. If not you can ask them to add something extra or decline. That’s been my experience for every contract I’ve signed.

Hello Michael, I'd like understand better one thing. If a player with a nice technique plays too much simple, the risk could be he doesn't show the real abilities. Example, if you are a good passer or assist-man, but you make just short pass, you don't emphasize your pass quality. If you have nice 1vs1 but you don't dribble, you can't show this quality. Let me know what do you think about? Great video!

I spoke about this in the video mate. The game mostly involves simple passing and moving, I even used Messi as an example. If you watch his highlights it seems like he performs dribbles or through balls all the time when in fact they are moments he chooses at the right time, the rest of the game he is keeping the ball. This is what you need to show, that you can keep the ball and have good quality basic technique, then when the right opportunities arrive to dribble, through ball or shoot, show it. But dribbling players just to dribble them in situations that don’t help the team will not impress a coach. I go into detail in the video, hope it helps

andre.dognini It’s not about only focusing, it’s about picking your moments. You need to be an intelligent player who can exploit opportunities to create. A careless and unintelligent player will try to force opportunities that aren’t there.
