Also interact with the crowds! With all the concerts I’ve been too I’ve noticed the crowds love this, it really helps build connection and the crowd is more likely to ask for encores repeatedly!

Man this is one of the best videos about been professional musician in Nashville. I'm from Brazil and I'm preparing my self(visa, the language and performance) to move to Nashville next year. Would be awesome if you make another videos about this subject... maybe talk about "the top 10 or 20 music you must to learn to get a gig in Nashville" How about that? Thanks bro... see you next in the video!

Thank you so much Marques! I will definitely do a video on what songs to learn when moving to Nashville. That’s a great subject. Do you know when exactly you’re gonna be moving?
@marques_galles2 жыл бұрын
Nice Blake, will be extremely helpful know what song I need to learn. Bro, I must to go to Namm show in April 2023, then I what to expend some days in Nashville, to meet people, to make some friends and feel the Nashville's vibe. In this middle time, my lawyer are working in the last details of my green card. It's impossible to say for sure, how long will be this process. But I thing, I should move in august 2023.

I’m moving to TN soon, bringing my guitar/singing/ and songwriting talents with me. You’ll see me in Nashville not too long from now. Thanks for the advice!

Being a natural harmonizer is a talent that can be learned. As Blake points out, this is a real plus. Being able to sing harmony can also make up for the fact that you don't have a front man's voice. If you don't play an instrument, take up bass. Country bass is not that hard to learn. And listen to Blake.

Probably a little late, but I think the series should be "Nashville Musician Roadmap". Also, I want to know more about making your living off of gigs based out of Nashville. How much can you expect to make? How do you deal with health insurance, taxes, 401k, retirement? What to expect at a broadway gig. How early do you need to be for a gig, how long does set break last, all of the above. I have a lot of questions. If you have time I would really like to have a one on one in your inbox.
@BlakeHallMusic2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I will be happy to answer any questions you have. You’ve raised some really good questions for me to make videos on. But yes I will be glad to answer any and all questions you have.

thanks for the tips - looking forward to more. Here's the other question I year more than any others - you alluded to it - what is the Broadway Playlist? What are the songs EVERYBODY needs to know? I know if I walk down the street I'm going to hear "Jolene" and "Wagon Wheel" and "Tennessee Whiskey" at least twice. So what else? The playlists I've seen look like they must be from 10 years ago.

That might be a good subject for another video. I will shoot you a message with what I think most players should know if they’re trying to get a gig in Nashville.

hey blake, how would you go about getting a gig as an established band (of 5) that plays rock music. (poison, ac/dc, def leppard, motley crue, ratt, etc.) would it even be worth it for a rock band to even try in nashville?

What you should add. Make the people who make Nashville happen, Happy . These are the Owners of businesses and politicians who dont have a small d next to their name. Without THEM it all goes away !

1:05 over 9 years!!! 😧I only spent 3 months in Nashville & ran into singers & musicians who spent more than a decade without success. 2 guys I worked with in a restaurant, one was about to give up after more than 9 years. the other gave up after 12 years got married and had kids. My honest opinion of what I seen in Nashville is what I call "The American Idol audition illusion" where you have singers coming on and simon cowell (me) is like: are you kidding me!! I'm just trying to give people a heads up of what i seen. If you are a singer and are headed to Nashville you either need to be (1) top-notch or (2) completely different. If you don't have any one of these going for you then get ready to sing Tennessee Whiskey for drunks in a little bar forever!

Yes Nashville is Music City, even internationally known bands will start at the smaller places, gotta be proficient and love what you do. Be willing to work work work! There’s a lot of competition
