"Oh, there's a magpie inside." You say that like it's unusual or something. We all knew the instant you left that door open, there would be at minimum a magpie and a dozen kooks!

@@BanterMaestro2-vh5vnAww, that's a shame. We have plenty of Kookaburras here on the west coast now too, though they aren't native here and only really started showing up frequently since the 70s or 80s. I hope you at least got to see a Wombat!

@@BanterMaestro2-vh5vnHa! They're cheeky buggers, but cheerful with it. And if you think they're loud, you should hear the screeching of the Black Cockatoos around here as the sky starts to lighten before dawn. "As musical as a cockatoo" said nobody, ever. 😅

Thanks to your funny and informative vids, I have learned something of myself..i freaking LOVE these birds. Something about their stout, squat look combined with that massive beak and strange cackling noises they make, results in an oddly compelling creature. The way they cock their heads and catch things in their beak makes me want to throw them a nut or something. You are very blessed. Hopefully they arent too noisy!

Are your magpies the long tailed ones, which sound like matrix printers?
@sydnorth5868
@sydnorth5868 6 ай бұрын
The European Magpie and the Australian Magpie are two completely different species. The European Magpie is a Corvid (i.e. member of the Crow family). The Australian Magpie is a Passeriforme (i.e. a songbird), which is why they sound so different, even though they look similar.
@boloball78
@boloball78 6 ай бұрын
@@sablatnic8030 sydnorth said it all. Ours look like black and white crows for sure. They are very talkative, so much so that the sound they make ( described by the verb "piailler" - read pee-aye-eh - in french) is used to describe noisy talkative people 😁

What is the magic stuff you feed them all - and do they all get the same ? My husband and I once lived on Dangar Island in the Hawkesbury and were able to feed the rainbow lorikeets and the magpies, but all we knew was not to give them the sugar water that was popular among the other residents. Whatever you feed them looks wonderfully good for them ! :D
