Here’s what makes up 100% of your score:
FIRST: ON TIME PAYMENT HISTORY - 35%
This one is VERY straight forward…DON’T MISS A CREDIT CARD PAYMENT AND DON’T PAY IT OFF LATE. EVER. In order to get a perfect credit score, you’ll need to pretty much NEVER miss a payment, ever - otherwise that could completely ruin everything.
SECOND: CREDIT UTILIZATION - 30%
In order to get yourself a PERFECT score, the credit bureaus want to see that you aren’t maxing out all of your credit cards, and that you’re keeping a relatively LOW balance compared to the overall credit you have available to you. One of the techniques I use to help with this, is just to have a LOT of available credit - all with really high credit limits.
THIRD: LENGTH OF CREDIT HISTORY - 15%
This just means - the longer you’ve had credit for, and the sooner you start - the BETTER. This is one of the reasons I recommend people begin building their credit score as early as they possibly can, even if it means going and getting a credit card THE DAY THEY TURN 18…this will help build the foundation of your entire credit history very early on.
Now, it is important to remind you that this is calculated as the AVERAGE length of your credit history…not the TOTAL length. So my recommendation is to, first, start building your credit as soon as you possible can - and keep those accounts open and in good standing for as long as possible. This will help you build up a solid fortress of longstanding credit history - so that when you DO apply for new lines of credit, it won’t reduce your average account age as much - and it’ll have less of an impact on your score.
FOURTH: TOTAL NUMBER OF CREDIT LINES - 10%
First, the more credit lines you have - the higher your credit limit - which lowers your overall utilization, and helps your score.
Second, by having MORE credit available to you, you’re able to show even MORE on-time payments - which, again, will help increase your score.
And third, having a mix of credit types - like an auto loan, a mortgage, and credit cards, shows lenders that you can appropriately handle multiple types of loans without defaulting on them.
FIFTH: NUMBER OF CREDIT INQUIRIES - 10%
Anytime you go and apply for credit, it’s reported to the credit bureaus and shows up on your report as a “hard inquiry.” This helps lenders keep track of how many times you’re going and asking for credit…and generally speaking, the more often you’re out there asking for credit, the riskier of a borrower you become.
In addition to that, if you ARE out there getting new credit cards - that also will LOWER your average credit length - which could further drop your score, as well.
Besides that:
I HIGHLY recommend you check your credit score every few weeks using a free service like CreditKarma or CreditSesame. Both are FANTASTIC resources that update your score every week - and even though they’re not going to be 100% accurate in terms of calculating what your score will be, they’re going to be fairly close and will give you a comprehensive overview of your entire report.

Video related question. I have never get a test done. But I have had the same credit card since 2008 and never missed a payment, I've nearly maxed it and fully paid it off multiple times(currently paid off) same story with insurance. I only had 1 credit nono before 2008(lost track of an old cell phone bill). The only problem is while I may be very fiscally responsible I have tourettes, and living in a very blue collar area with a severe recession(10-25% unemployment) I don't get jobs that last longer than a few months. So my income rarely goes over 20k a year. Even then I have managed to start up a TFSA(investment) and also building up bitcoin(my income has only got my to about 0.26BTC or about $2500 worth at current prices). Maybe getting that perfect score will be what gets me out of this, the loan that starts the company, perhaps.

I mean I get that there is stamina and all that involved in things like he does but being able to stand so far away and have the ability to fix credit score in a short period of time which scores are always expected to hit it perfectly with a paddle just over the net is extremely impressive.

16:00 Funny thing about credit piggybacking -- my dad had my name on one of his credit cards a long time ago when I had to go buy a computer for school. Fast-forward several years and I noticed I had a high utilization on my credit profile, even though I knew I wasn't using much of my credit. As it turned out, my dad had his credit card nearly maxed out and it was contributing to my credit profile and score. Once I asked the bureaus to remove my name, my score shot up 50 points.

My credit score has been between 820-832 for years...depending on my credit card usage...but I have never been late for payments and pay off all my credit cards in full each month. I also have NEVER paid a cent in interest in the 35 years I have had credit cards. If the credit card companies mistakenly charge me interest on a contested charge I call and refuse to pay it. They look up your credit history with them. You would be surprised at how flexible credit card companies can be if you have a history of paying off in full every month for over 30 years.

@AngelicaSantos-zk4zu
@AngelicaSantos-zk4zu Жыл бұрын
He said it only affects your score for 12 months and the hard inquiry falls off after two years. So it only is a short term sacrifice to get higher credit later for when you may need it. A future home loan or car loan.

Pretty sure someone is mad and they are trying to exploit the youtube system and trick people into scams. Never seen any this much anywhere else. The bot is definitely targeting this youtube channel.

Congrats! I was told by a very reputable financial guru, that 750 credit score is treated the same as 800. Have you heard that before or something different? Now I don't know which is accurate.

How do you start a credit score and make it good
@jean-clauded5823
@jean-clauded5823 3 жыл бұрын
To get a credit file if you don’t have one at all, all you need to do is apply for credit. The first time you apply, it will usually build a blank file. Now, to get positive credit reported to it, at least initially, consider getting a secured VISA or MasterCard. A bank debit card will usually not report to the credit bureaus because they don’t consider it an actual extension of credit.

Thats right...taught against. Teach kids patience, savings, and minimalism. 99% of people are not using credit to run businesses but to buy crap that could be purchased with cash if they just waited. We could flip the u.s. economy if we stopped making banks rich with interest

no it shouldn't at all!!! 800 is NOT a perfect credit score!!!! 850 is the most credit score you can have.

@@stephonhughley3059 I love Graham's videos, but claiming he's the only one giving these facts is false. There are actually plenty of credit card only focused KZbin's who have had videos dedicated to each of these 5 factores, among other credit specific things. Graham even mentions one of them, the credit shifu, in one of his credit card videos. I forget which credit card it was, I think it was one of chases buisness ink card, but Graham mentions he got a specific credit card after seeing the cards sign up bonuses in one of the credit shifu's videos
