@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Thank you ! And graduate roles are rarely remote , as they need to teach you what to do. There are some fully remote PM roles out there. But then again most role are a few days on site and then work from home the rest of the time

Thanks lovely! If I’m honest I do not know. Each companies policy is different. So you’ll need to check. I know the major banks do for their grads schemes. I see no reason why tech companies shouldn’t either 🤷🏾♀️ but honestly I’ve never had to look into it

Hi Ire, I am glad i came across your video. My wife just graduated last week from the University of Bradford - Msc Project planning & Management. I am desperate to have her get a chance to gain some experience. Would the graduate role be suiting for her, and also, would you advice a certification now in addition to her University degree? If yes, which would you recommend? Thank you.
@pitolinmotion Жыл бұрын
Hey: yes she can apply for the graduate roles, however most of the applications for the next year start in September. That being said there are also opportunities throughout the year. Personally if you plan to get a graduate role then no, most graduate roles will pay for your certifications

Thank you. I live in the U.S. What will be the presentation about ? will they give me a topic or I bring my own? Please explain
@pitolinmotion3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Most likely the company will assign a topic from which you can be creative and decide on what you want to talk about. For example, they might say, talk about something you are passionate about, and then you can pick what that is, or something more formal like , pitch them a new system / tech / process that will help the client. Then you will have to pick something. It really depends on the company. But remember they just want to see those key skills that are desired by a project manager, and showing that you can engage people and get them on board with your idea

Although this was advice for scoring a PM role as a graduate, I still took a lot from this as someone who is looking to get in with no experience! Question: would you say it’s tough studying for the PM certification? How long would you say it takes to prep for it before taking the exam? 💕
@pitolinmotion3 жыл бұрын
Hey girly , glad this helps! To answer your question I would say foundation level is not too bad at all. There’s not that much content to cover and it’s pretty methodical so you can learn in easy steps ( Especially the PRINCE2) . The practitioner level on the other hand 🙃🙃🙃🙃 that requires more time and care. Because the exam is multiple choice, there are often two answers that basically look identical. But with a subtle difference so it’s easy to get caught out. You really do need to digest and understand it. I always say that the theory is easier to understand once you have some experience delivering projects. But if you’re unable to get the experience before hand , I would just advise Taking your time learning and understanding the content x

Your videos are super full helpful! I’ve got an interview for a project management assistant role and I’ve just finished my degree. I’m also through to a grad scheme virtual assessment centre. Does it matter whether I go into a grad scheme or a normal job? Will it limit my progression? They are both with really successful companies so I know I’ll be supported either way! Thanks in advance! Xx
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Hiya. Thank you! And congrats on all these interviews 🎉🎉🎉 to answer your question , I don’t know lol. I went down the grad scheme route and will always advise people to do the same for several reasons 1) they are more forgiving whilst you are learning, they train you from the ground up, and usually have lots of support from senior pms 2) they tend to pay for your qualifications as part of your development 3) you start with other grads in a similar environment to you. You have a support system, and I think personally in project management where things can get busy quickly. That is important . This being said, will you progress quicker if you go straight in at entry level 🤔 I donno lol. Defo weigh up your options and make the best decision for you 😊

Hey! So glad I found your channel. It feels great to see another beautiful black women excelling in the field that you are looking towards. I am a current engineering major with a business emphasis looking to go straight into project management after graduation. Do you think the PMP certification is better than going to get my masters in Engineering Management?
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Hey girly! And thanks for the kind words, honestly I don’t know, I’ve never done PMP and In the UK we don’t really use it. I heard that in the US they are quite strict on certifications though, like they want you to have PMP, but I think it’s best to get advice from someone in the US, if it was in the UK I’d say get the qualification over the masters x hope that helps

@pitolinmotion3 жыл бұрын
Hey , you don’t need a bachelors degree to become an entry level PM, howeverrrrrr, it does help. If you want a graduate role then you will need a bachelors degree in the UK ( usually achieving a 2.2 / 2.1 minimum) You can start with CAPM and work from there🎉 But also remember that getting practical experience building the skills required for a PM is so important. So whilst you’re studying, if you can start working on mini projects on the side, that would really help !

Hi Ire, are these graduate internship opened to new migrants who had their education outside of UK(especially Nigeria). Can someone relocate and have access to these internship roles moreso if not with a PM college degree? Also, what certification would you suggest so I have an edge? Thanks 🙏
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I’m not sure you’ll need to check the entry criteria. Some of them may not offer visa. Plus interviews are often f2f so gonna be tricky if you are abroad . You don’t need a PM degree to get these internships. Usually just need a good degree 2.1 or above / equivalent in any discipline . Also depending on what kinda PM you wonna do and where. maybe PMP , Prince2 or an agile cert

@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
well in general no, if you can apply, apply! Some internships are targeted at specific ages so you will need to check. For graduate roles, usually you need to have graduated from university either that year or within a year. There are some internships, but not many to my knowledge
