@pitolinmotion9 ай бұрын
Thank you 🤗🤗 also there is no rule, it will depend on the project and circumstances. In general though , the more uncertainty there is ie risk, the more contingency is required. In my experience always add a minimum of 10-15%

@pitolinmotion Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 🤗 and receipts is just something documented and shared with everyone !
@lookingatdaisies9901 Жыл бұрын
Meeting minutes, a phone call, a conversation at the water coolers in the office where your stakeholder asks for something in the project, document it, and email it to them lol. "Per our phone call", "per our conversation", "let me know if I've captured all your requests". It's not just project management (I've not done a project management role, currently in my research phase) as a rule do this in every professional job you have to your colleagues, managers and stakeholders. It acts as a to do list for you, it makes sure you didn't mishear what they asked for, oh and when if they are forgetful or spiteful and say they don't remember something, you've got proof, "reciepts"

How do you know how much contingency you need to add? Like money for example.
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So theirs no one rule, but there’s lots of way to gauge how much you should add. Generally it’s down to risk. How likely and how much impact would there be if something should go wrong. The more there is, the higher the contingency . I’ve got a module on this on the course I’m creating and launching early next year so stay tuned

I've just qualified my Prince 2 qualification and have two years of sales experience plus a business degree. do you recommend I apply for an apprenticeship in project management or apply for project support officer roles? Thanks ☺️
@pitolinmotion3 жыл бұрын
Hey congrats on completing the Prince2💃 why not apply to them all. I would advise when trying to get your foot into the door, apply far and wide. Project management is very competitive , so why not give yourself the best chance by applying all over. If you are a recent graduate I would defo advise applying for graduate roles. If not entry level project management roles , project coordinator , trainee project manager roles too.

Do you have to be good with math for this particular job/career?
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Nope! No math involved , on occasion you’ll have to do budgeting. Like one a month, but it’s not maths. More just making sure that you’ve allocated the correct money to things. Excel formula can do the maths for you :)

Hey. I think getting pm cert is useful but not essential. Since you are going to graduate. Defo check out pm graduate roles ! How stressful would you say this job is?
@pitolinmotion3 жыл бұрын
Hey, haha well this is very subjective but I would say, it can be stressful at times, probs more than some jobs because here is a lot of responsibility in this role… but it’s not constant. So project demands come in peaks and troughs. When you’re near a milestone or a key deliverable , you can often feel stressed as you try to push the delivery over the line. The key is to manage your project well throughout the project and always know what’s going on; it helps you to be able to risk management and stakeholder manage better. Things will always go wrong, nothing you can do about that, but being able to know it’s going about to go wrong, before it actually goes wrong will Immensely reduce your stress. On the flip side, there’s times in a project where I literally have nothing to do! Because project managers don’t actually do any physical work, when things go to plan, life is sweet and easy and you’re literally getting paid to do nothing :) I’ve learnt to take advantage of those times and not to feel guilty for doing nothing. Because life can switch up on me in one email 😅 hope this helps
@BiancaNicole2 жыл бұрын
@@pitolinmotion Thanks for this answer! Particularly, the bit about you having nothing to do sometimes because PMs don't do any of the "physical" work. That has been my question: as a PM do you do any of the project activities and are you responsible for the outcome/results of the project (whether the project met its goal, was successful, etc.)?
@pitolinmotion2 жыл бұрын
Heyy I think as a PM you are accountable for the successful delivery of the project, but the whole project team are responsible for the successful delivery. Slight difference there. At the end of the day you are fully dependant on other people to get the job done. But given that you have all the resources, you should be able to navigate successful delivery, or foresee what could go wrong and call them out as dependencies, assumptions or risks x hope that helps
