I’m struggling to progress in project management! I’m working as a project coordinator with over a year experience. I have attempted applying for junior pm and pm roles but haven’t gotten anywhere! Please can you advise me on what to do?

@@lindsay5872 hey there! Sorry to hear that you’re not having much luck. Tbh it’s a really competitive time for PM atm so it could be that. Or it could be something else you’re not doing to maximise your outcomes. I wouldn’t be able to advise unless I know more about your circumstances. If you would like more assistance. Feel free to book into my consulting services :)

I came across your video which aligns with my career aspirations. I’m currently working as a product manager however I am aspiring to have an international certificate but I’m torn between continuing in product/project management or exploring data science.. Given your expertise, I would greatly appreciate any advice you could offer on which direction might be more advantageous for the future. I keep hearing stories of Project Management becoming obsolete in the future.

And the annoying thing is being given rates of 300 per day Umbrella and commuting into London. I have been out of contract since early May this year, been on about 5 interviews and feedback I receive are positive, "but the other person was chosen because he had more experience" 10+ years experience with top 10 UK banks and Insurance companies. It is so draining! But hey never giving up, pressing each day till I hear yes!
@pitolinmotion29 күн бұрын
Yerp defo keep pressing! If I’m honest the work for contractors is even more in the trenches, but that is expected. That is the beauty of perm employment , when companies fall on hard times they are generally safer than contractors. Maybe also consider a high paid prem role. You can always go back at a later stage. Or just keep applying !

I want to switch career into PM . I have been in the real estate/construction space for over a decade. But it seems it's more about Agile PM now which is more emphasized in the IT. My confusion now is do i stay focus on Construction PM or move to IT PM. Please, need some advice.
@Jess_dManagerАй бұрын
I agree with you, Andy. It's more about Agile knowledge nowadays.
@pitolinmotionАй бұрын
I personally think you should stay where your expertise lies, so you can demand a higher salary from earlier. Using an agile methodology over a waterfall methodology will depend on what industry you are in. You can’t use agile in construction so you don’t need to concern yourself with that. And there are plenty of roles in construction which only people with expertise can get, so I personally wouldn’t transition to IT where it is super competitive now for beginners as well as experienced PMs. That’s just my opinion. The choice is yours

@pitolinmotionАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching ! Glad you are finding them useful. They are 2 separate documents . A PID aka project charter is a documentformal document delineating the project's purpose, scope, stakeholders, objectives, and rough plan. A project plan is a detailed schedule of how long a project will take to deliver, the resources needed and the RAID associated with the schedule

Thank you Ire!. This was helpful. I’d love to add that I got a project coordinators job early this year, and trust that I used your interview tips to land that role😉. I was listening to this hoping to get some snippets on how to do my own personal career documenting. Is it something you do? Can you do a video on work documenting - like keeping on top of major milestones in your career and how document/update it for future reference.
@pitolinmotionАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching ! And congrats on your role! Glad my videos helped you get there :) - if I’m honest , my biggest advice to you would just be to update your CV regularly so you can track what you have done. I don’t think I really do much career documenting. But perhaps just remember to note down your main achievements periodically

@@pitolinmotion Thank you Ire. I was getting worried that I might forget all the wonderful achievements even in this short while on my job and thought of documenting them, but still didn’t know where to start 😂.
