Thank you so much! I’m planning to find a remote job in the US as a contractor and this is very helpful. Your point about weak currency is 100% true - this is the main reason.

Thanks for all of the high value content you've been posting on your channel, I feel really fortunate to have discovered you before your audience grows. A couple of questions I had while watching the video: Are you still doing the digital nomad lifestyle and if not why did you leave the digital nomad lifestyle? What is the pathway in your opinion to becoming a top 1% Rails developer? In your experience, what inefficiencies (if any) have you noticed in the market between US companies and talented developers from overseas?
@typefastco2 жыл бұрын
I no longer do the digital nomad thing, although I still enjoy traveling one in awhile. To get better at development, it's really just lots of practice + time. One major inefficiency I've seen between US markets and outsourced developers is that there's a negative prejudice against outsourced developers due to past experiences with poor quality of work. This can be overcome of course with a portfolio of work + experience.

Another great video. I'm an African aspiring for a US rails job. A question please, which of this test tool is more popular (in the US), Minitest or Rspec?
@typefastco2 жыл бұрын
Rspec is more popular. I've only seen minitest once.

The difference in quality has to do with pay. People get paid less, therefore they don't get the same life quality as in first world countries and because of that they won't invest as much time in learning and improving themselves.

I am an experienced software developer from Ukraine. Your video is great, but i didn't get how to contact us-based companies directly? All posted jobs, which I've met requires to be legitimate to work in the US.
@typefastco Жыл бұрын
Like most job postings, I would ignore most of the requirements just apply and see what happens. Most job posting list requirements that are nice to have, but not a must.

Very nice video, I'm trying to find remote jobs, and I see most of the good remote jobs are from overseas, very few in China (I'm Chinese), my English ability is holding me back, I tried to learn English, but it didn't work.

Keep trying. Learning a language takes time.

From what I've seen, based on employee location, but they'll still pay much better than what local companies would pay.

Which websites do you use to find jobs in the US that are accepting people from the third world.
@typefastco Жыл бұрын
We work remotely, indeed, all sorts. It's a numbers game. Also, you can try to get into professional freelance networks like toptal.
