@jerrycooper142810 ай бұрын
Quick question. For the residence permit gained through property. If you have a number of properties, eg two properties valued at $50.000 each can apply for a RP or does it have to be one property valued at $100.000 ? Thanks.

How is it? I love Batumi and want to buy an apartment there.

@@Just4Kixs I like it. I’m a minute walk from the beach. I prefer it to Tbilisi, which is quite big and has many steep streets. The temperature in winter has been fairly mild.

@@GaryAJMartin Did you buy property there or start a business? I'm looking into buying property there in Batumi. I really enjoyed my time there and went twice. How long have you been living in Batumi? Any chance I can contact you to ask more questions? I'm really looking to invest and settle down there. I also am learning Georgian and Russian, though Laz and Turkish are also spoken there.
@GaryAJMartin10 ай бұрын
@@Just4Kixs Neither actually. This is my first time here. Spending about 5 weeks. Although, I have been to Tbilisi twice. Wanted to see which I preferred. And if I liked, then look to making it a more permanent situation in the future. So about in the same timeline of progress in terms of becoming a resident, as you. Have you opened a back account yet?
@Just4Kixs10 ай бұрын
@@GaryAJMartin yeah Tbilisi is too hectic for me. I haven't opened a bank account yet, though I already know which bank that I want to open with, yet I need to be physically in Georgia to do so, and I won't be returning until next year. Ideally, I'd like to live in the old Batumi district near Freedom Square or the church nearby there. Been window shopping for a place every now and then. Have you opened a bank account?

The issue with Georgia is twofold. Firstly, the country is absolutely falling over itself to try to join the EU. So there is substantial political risk that the EU will dictate to Georgia on many fronts including financial and taxation reforms. Secondly given how desperate the US is to starting a war with Russia right now I think Georgia's proximity and background is a risk to any would be investor.

How difficult is the language to learn by an native English speaker? Does a language requirement exist if you pursue citizenship by any of these above-mentioned methods? Thanks

I think it depends. If you already no some Russian that might make it easier. Plus Georgian is a European language so there are similarities to English, German, Latin, French, Spanish etc… you could use to make it easier. Language tools and tutors are pretty accessible through the internet and you can find well priced services.
@Romanesco183 ай бұрын
@@svensulzmann4282 Hey, just curious in what way is Georgian similar to European languages? In sentence structure or? Also, if you go around Tbilisi, would you say most people speak Russian or English when it comes to interacting with tourists? Obviously they speak Georgian among themselves, but with tourists is English more widespread than the Russian? I've heard that older generation can speak Russian and some English, but the new generation speak little to no Russian and speak English, but not sure how good their English is. As a tourist, which language would be most preferred in daily interactions?
@svensulzmann42823 ай бұрын
@@Romanesco18 I mean relatively Georgian is alphabetic, there are transitive/intransitive verbs, tenses are pretty as I see it. There are French, English, Russian words in modern Georgian because of geography. English is the best option particularly in Tiblisi or other bigger towns. It’s probably harder to get English speakers compared to Western European countries

If the Georgians are lucky, they will eventually be admitted to the Russian Federation as a couple of autonomous oblasts, just like Moldova in far eastern Europe, Armenia in the Caucasus, Bulgaria in SE Europe, Latvia in the Baltics.

I came to Georgia to establish a plan B, İt's so peaceful over here, I don't feel the problems I had with living in society back home in the west. İmmigration is simple, it facilitate things with bank account with remote workers as myself. Looking forward to be perm resident soon and paying 1percent tax as İE. buying properties in premium location at reasonable price compared to tax heavy countries. No reason to second guess moving here I think you guys made a mistake on your promo, 50000 gel isn't 70000 usd

IF you get a residency permit, (keep the property) but then leave Georgia, and then don't come back for more than 1 year.. (2 or 3 or 4 or 5+ years..) Can you still renew your temporary residency permit when you come back? or do you lose it completely if you are not physically there to renew it each year??

Hard pass. Georgia is not a business hub, sandwiched between Turkey and Russia, and let's remember that they do not even control 100% of their territorry. I know that Georgia is a Andrew's darling, but it is just not worth the risk. Maybe works well for Russians with some money, but for Westerners, there are clearly better alternatives

The country is spelled “Russia” in English, and your assertion makes no sense. If Georgia does not attack Russians again, then there won’t be any war. Russia should have just gone ahead and secured complete independence for Adjaria and admitted Abkhazia into the Russian Federation. They still can :)
