How about a video on reading a defenders body position etc, and comboing moves accordingly? Love the content, much appreciated 🙏

U just have to play a lot of 5v5 and pickup to learn how to attack body and do combos. Basketball is reactionary
@loganw8613 жыл бұрын
It all comes down to instinct. The fastest way to improve is to Play 3 dribble king of the court all of the time. Test out your combos and see which work on which defenders. When you play 1v1, play 1 shot per possession to not waste energy or time rebounding. The goal is to work on offensive and defensive instincts. Some general rules to think about before you start your moves: If they play back: quick jab step to jumper or step back jumpers If they shade, attack top foot first If they play balanced, there’s no weakness but no defender advantage either From the triple threat after checking the ball before you dribble: how much have they committed to pump fakes and jabs/drives fakes so far? respond accordingly. Defenders playing too far back? Jab into jumper. If They are close but commit too much on jabs, jab then cross- react to that space you created and the defender is now in a close out situation. If they don’t react to your jab steps, just shimmy then blow by until they do. A hesi is a live dribble triple threat and all the same rules as above apply. Master it. make it look like exactly like a drive every time and be able to pull up, drive or cross out of it. Gotta be able to shoot out of every move left and right for any good defender to commit on shot fakes. Whether hesi / cross / snatch / in-n-out / btb. Good players might tell what makes you easy to guard if you ask. “You never go left so I don’t have to worry about it” or “you can’t shoot a dribble pull up when gathering the ball with your right hand” then fix those gaps.

Here in Europe we didnt even have those camps. During the glorious 90s, me and my boys would record the NBA games on fucking vhs and would play it then in slow mo to get an idea what AI, Penny, Kobe actually did and how they did it...and all in that outstanding vhs picture quality... Kids today mostly dont even appreciate that huge spring of wisdom they haave at their disposal for free and only just need to dip their toes in.

CRSWHT your hesi crossover is already pretty good and surprisingly quick but add that "go get the ball" lean and you'll be blowing by people. Then hit em with that snatchback for your shot. Then the fake step back and you'll have fools spinning.
@madballer1013 жыл бұрын
Dev I think the reason you were finding difficulty getting him to lean far enough when he was doing the hanging crossover into the jumper, was because when you do your cross you turn your body at a greater angle going into the cross. ( really selling the drive) Versus his cross was mostly with his shoulders facing the basket.

instead of just saying "you can do this without the carry" maybe actually demonstrate how to do that. I ref HS in Canada and the carrys and travelling are out of control. The worst is when kids tell me their "private trainer" taught them to do it that way. The whole business of basketball is pretty gross to be honest. This kids handles may get by in the park but not in a real game. Just my 2 cents.
