Nice stories man. Some great advice in here. Last week I started my first software dev job after about a month of searching. I agree with you and put it all down to having unique and interesting projects that you build yourself. Something employers wouldn't usually see. I found what they want more than anything is passion so if you can show you love the work, it's a big green flag in their eyes.

Definitely, at the end of the day it doesn't matter specifically what it is that makes you a compelling candidate. I think the important thing is that you have something that makes you stand out from a sea of other people doing the same as you. It's very competitive out there now and a lack of industry experience means they have little else to trust in when it comes to taking you on. From a company's perspective they're taking a huge risk (especially in this climate).

Great advice here as always mate - the combination of putting yourself out there and creating fully fledged professional projects is the key

Thanks mate. It's all that and doing something just a little different. Identify the needs of a business and prove you can solve them.

So many KZbinrs are saying the same thing right now - it's very hard to get a a Tech job right now. I switched from doing Network Plus and CCNA to a bootcamp where I have a choice to learn Cloud or Wen Dev. The entry requirements are to learn Javascript. Videos like this just de-motivate me to a point where I ask myself is there any point in even trying if you cant get a job at the end. For my own development I have decided that I will no longer view any more doom and gloom videos like this and stick to my path Top right corner of thumbnail, select "Don't recommend channel"

You focus on what helps you. The main purpose of this video was to address the very real difficulties and competition that exists in the industry right now. However, instead of focusing on that, focusing more on ways you can circumvent that and plow forward and stand out from the crowd. It's definitely still possible to enter the industry, and who knows what the market will actually turn out like in 2024, but the key thing is that you have a genuine passion for tech and are willing to put the work in to contribute to the field above and beyond your peers. Demonstrate that companies and orgs can place their trust in you and your skills. So if you don't stick around, I hope you keep yourself right and do what's best for you. You'll get there in the end if you stick at it.

You might be better off going for the certs regardless. Doesn't matter what happens, IT infrastructure will always be around.
