• 1:28 Get acting classes • 3:18 Find the biggest Hub near you (in my case, NY) to go there for auditions, show that you’re dedicated • 4:33 Get headshots • 6:07 Sign up for Actors Access (and any other acting sites depending on where you’re located). Then you can start self submission • 7:44 Get a demo reel filmed after you’ve been training for a long while - long enough to the point you know you’re impressively good. (U will likely get huge auditions with a demo reel) • 9:33 When you can finally start submitting to agencies • 10:11 Finding your nearest acting hub + Applying to acting agencies (best time to do so is in the summer & fall) • 11:48 How often u should submit to agencies (+rejection) • 12:19 Why taking classes makes SUCH a huge difference !! • 13:04 It can get u great opportunities fast + trying to book without training can get you written off and tossed aside by casting directors who’ve seen you • 13:50 Careful of scams! Remember you should never pay an agent • 14:10 Doing ur own research will already get u amazing opportunities

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing all this! I have actor friends in the industry who've tried to be helpful since the pandemic with landing/switching agents when they have a moment from their packed schedules. Asked around on Reddit about how many/too many agency submissions--??? But not always the greatest responses from some lol. GREAT to know about Demo footage, submitting---waiting lol, and newer headshots! ♥

Hi! I’ve never taken professional acting classes I’ve only done shows and musical theater at biola youth theater. I was just wondering if that counted for something? I wanted to see if I could audition for the second season of the new Percy Jackson series. They had an open call for the first season but idk if they will for the second season.

would you maybe suggest to the actor to just use Backstage for themselves and maybe let their agent use actors access? I just made an account for Actors Access, I don't like how it looks/runs but I can make it work fine. Just wondering if juggling both apps/profiles is really worth it? Love the vid btw! :D

i have an agent but i didnt do classes. not all agencies require it (even though its a huge plus) but I have acting credits & that was enough. Some agencies are okay with you just having a photo of you and reading a monologue
@ChanChan-tv1wp4 ай бұрын
1. Do improv. Most places have drop in classes for even $5. It helps you get out of your head and free you up 2. Read books and study great actors. Do character analysis for fave movies. Watch plays. 3. Submit for a commercial agent and hopefully once you book, use the money to fund acting 4. Do paid background acting to make money and learn on set 5. Join a group for cold readings or roundtable play readings

I have a very, very important question, so please answer! I live on an island, which is a country and is far from any big audition places or sights. I am also a minor still in school. How can I start my acting journey when I alr have everything prepared for audition?
@atotallyrandomchickonthein546010 ай бұрын
make your own content, do theater, or find work in your area. upload your work to imdb, see if you can do any remote (at home) work for credits. But, if that doesn't work, record yourself reading a monologue and submit to some USA sagaftra agencies that accept international submissions, even though you usually need extra paperwork to sign with them. See if you can find talent agencies in your island btw

make your own content. if you cant, just use backstage/actors access and audition from there. OR, record yourself reading a monologue and submit to talent agencies (preferably SAGAFTRA if ur American) near you

As someone who’s been acting for 7+ years, I recommend starting with musical theatre or theatre classes because their classes range from all levels, if your in high school you can also join a high school class! Film classes are also great!

My son is signed with a smaller local agent who offers an opportunity to go to NY to be in front of a larger agent. U have to pay $1600 to register plus ur own room and flight. Is this normal or scammy?
@sslaitens Жыл бұрын
no agent should ask you to pay, that means they aren’t making money if you are having to pay
@atotallyrandomchickonthein546010 ай бұрын
thats a scam, if youre in the USA, find a SAGAFTRA agency near you cause they don't require you to pay, even though you'll sometimes have to cover travel expenses.
