Does anyone know this feeling when I watch a YT- Video about knowledge or self improvement (like this) which is made up in a high quality and a entertaining style and it's somehow comfortable to watch but in the end I just forget most of whats said because actually the main thing that this video was giving me is easy and fast dopamine disguised as high quality self work? Man I'm addicted and need to be freed. I think I'm going to watch a self improvement video about phone addiction. Oh waaaait a minute I'm cooked, help me

all "video essays" without exception are basically "mental masturbation". especially if they are edited good. just avoid them. i always try to remember asking myself when im on youtube "was i meaning to watch this video? did i specifically looked for this?" if not. its a mental masturbation. does not matter if its about space or habits or science or cars. its bullshit. I especially have a big hatred towards these kinds of professional "video essays". they boil down to same bullshit you already know while being succummed to it (professional fancy slick stupid video editing that keeps your attention). Title of the video was interesting. I kinda got the idea "its especailly easy to win because everyone else is wasting time just like how i am doing myself. all i need to do is change" thats it. i dont actually give a shit if "the video actually says ☝🤓.." dont care. didnt ask. this is stupid. didnt search for it yet still clicked. me doing this comment is also waste of time but i guess now i reharsed my thoughts on this and this further enhances my self-control attempts"

You're not acknowledging the progress, being too impatient, or doing it wrong. But really man, just in general, get serious about it, I don't mean raw effort, I'm sure you put a lot of effort in all of these activities, but really *be smart about it and think it through* , make questions for yourself about the books you read to challenge your understanding, log your lifts, reps, weight, pay attention to intensity and programming mostly. This way not only will you be more efficient, but you will be more conscious of your improvements, you will see your understanding about books progress as well as seeing reps and weight increase.

@@walidtheflach3462I think writing down whatever you did and then coming back during set intervals will help you identify shortcomings and make improvements. I would say to check every three months. Context and circumstances are still the main factors. The internet can be so confusing and frustrating because it makes it seem like opportunities are everywhere and doors are wide open. It’s pretty common for young people to feel like they’re doing something wrong. I would argue that is because of the internet which often creates this illusion that we have complete control and can intentionally put ourselves in a specific situation. Sure, that kind of positive outlook can create hope!! But I think it’s often unhealthy because it gives a false sense of control over what is reasonable when navigating the world and ones expected life situation in it. For some people, working hard and staying determined is the answer. It is however not some kind of answer for all. The real evidence of hope and "making it"(whatever that means to you) is in the fact that, thanks to the second law of thermodynamics (where we’re always trying to organize and find patterns, but entropy keeps causing chaos), combined with the butterfly effect, unexpected things happen all the time. The future is completely undetermined. So yeah, we do have free will after all. The human brain is insanely complex, and there might even be quantum events in the brain that affect free will. Plus, despite what this video says, luck plays a role in ways we’re totally unaware of. Be aware of that, but blaming yourself for not achieving something is pointless. And honestly, it’s just a normal survival instinct. So cut yourself some slack. Relax.
@maximilianoventura79474 күн бұрын
Entropy is such an unexpected take on this subject but I think you have a good point. I take comfort in the fact that everything that happens is random but also orderly at the same time.

@sonicboomrecords143014 күн бұрын
Ive had this problem. Tbh, the best solution to this is time. It took me years to fully grasp the idea that it is not possible to do A LOT of things, and 10x less possible to be exceptional at these things. Best thing you can do is focus on one thing at a time. Once you’re exceptional at that thing, keep with it as best you can and then focus on the next, as it will be easier to do. Time + critical thought = answers.
@nieselregen4207 күн бұрын
You can just focus on one and put the others aside. But it really depends. I prefer doing things I like over success. So I would never set them aside. The goal can also be happiness (and always is). So if it makes you happy you don't need to change a thing.
