I mean learning how to create chords. That one of my many challenges with DAWs is making chords
@TomZMusic5 жыл бұрын
@@NecroMon99 That's one of the reasons I don't use DAWs or when I use them I feed them with an MMJ instrumental. To me, chords are the cornerstone of every song. If the chords suck, the best melody won't work. And punching in chords over various tracks of a song is so cumbersome. In a DAW if you have an 8 track song, you need to create the chords for each track and there is no way that the other tracks know which chords the other tracks are in. In MMJ you just go CCCC aaaa FFFF GGGG and 8 tracks play along in milliseconds.

Excellent vid. Makes me wonder why these chords are not available in the app without buying other packs in the first place. This works flawlessly and if only MMJ let us choose the 24 chords we want from opening a new project right from the start lol. I remember trying this trick thinking I could get all of them in one screen but was still limited to 7 chords. Was not disappointed though as choosing any 7 chords I want is already a big deal and I really hope more people will use this trick your video to make some really impressive chord progressions with it! For those of you who thinks it's complicated, just do every step one by one as you're watching this. You'll never forget how it's done once you try ;)

I also tried more than 7 chords but it didn't work. But 7 is more than enough for any pop/rock/EDM song

And yes, it looks like the inability to configure the 7 chords you want when you start a project seems to be a conscious User Experience UX decision on MMJ's part, not a technical limitation

If there are physically 7 audio files with set chords played, how does MMJ know to change/transpose each audio sample file to match the edited chord change?
@TomZMusic5 жыл бұрын
That is what I asked myself as well and originally thought it could not possibly work. But after a lot of experimentation I can say: very often it works. In the video I talk about magic and "bending the laws of physics" and being cautious because of that. Transposing a sample on the fly would be one explanation
@RecordingStudio95 жыл бұрын
@@TomZMusic With MAGIX Music Maker Plus, you can change to any of the 24 chords. I think it uses the closest major or minor chord and transposes, so C#min is basically Dmin 1 semitone down oe Emaj is Fmaj 1 semitone down etc. This MMJ must be using similar or same algorithm. BTW. very informative video.
@TomZMusic5 жыл бұрын
I agree with your assessment. I often transpose entire mmj tracks by one or multiple half tones, e.g. to Match a singer's key. Works beautifully

How could I drop or move up a set of chords if you understood what I mean.... "Music Maker Jam" no es tan granular con sus acordes. Solo le permite configurar los 24 acordes más comunes (12 mayores y 12 menores). Muchos sonidos contienen el tono 7 o están disminuidos (por ejemplo, C5), pero esto está predefinido en el bucle y no se puede ajustar individualmente.

Hi Tom, i wonder if you could do a tutorial or maybe just help. I have found a site called chordU which extracts a chord progression s from KZbin. Although I understand how to translate most of the chords to fit MMJ, I'm still at a struggle understanding a few. In the following the 'b' if the bit I struggle to understand.... Bb F Cm Bb F Eb Bb Bbm F Cm My translation is as follows where ? Is where I'm stuck B? F c B? F E? B? b F c
@TomZMusic5 жыл бұрын
I've been contemplating to to a tutorial like "how to get to the sharp notes on MMJ but it seemed too trivial. Fiundamentally: If a b is behind a chord, it refers to the black key BEFORE the note. if a # is behind a chord, it refers to the black key on the piano AFTER the note. Once you are aware of that, you'll know that C# and Db are 100% exactly the same. So in your case the solution is: A# F c A# F D# A# a# F c
