The Desolation Update brought a ton of cool new freighter features, including new upgrades and increasing the inventory size of your freighter. This is going to cost a lot of money if you do it normally, but there is a glitch to do it for waay less money, if that is your thing.

Useful TIP: If the door has purple lights above it, that means it leads to a single room. If the door has blue lights over it, then it leads to the next main room.

nice guide, did this freighter run in about 30 secs, less than 1 minute between landings. you can pulse immediately once you back in your ship. Took about 20 tries to get all the modules. Met someone along the way doing freighters too so I landed and gave them my spares I picked up. Share the love people

In case anyone wants to know, the glitch is to fire off the receiver, find a derelict, then put the receiver in your personal refiner and keep it there until after you've sold everything back at the space station. Then you can take it out of the refiner and use it again. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks a ton for this share, Jason! Ended up farming this apx. 84 runs to get 3x each upgrade and 26 Bulkheads. Instead of speed running, I looted everything and the totals are amazing: apx 128,000 nanites, 141,000,000 units and 167 Repair Kits. An added benefit to the loot all approach is occasionally looting Salvaged Frigate Modules. I can't remember how many exactly because I spent about 20 already and there is a stack of 18 in my inventory, and that will greatly reduce the amount of additional runs to farm those modules. Tip: With Matter Beam installed on Freighter you can install even from a portaled destination!

im pretty sure they arent doing any paid dlcs, as many of these "updates" could have been dlcs themselves. I think they are doing it this way because of the horrible launch. sony forced them to launch before feature complete and they got a lot of flak for it... almost ruined the devs. if they made these updates paid dlc they never would have captured the playerbase back. its gained them a lot of brownie points.

The modules you can get from this are: +246 LY & 100% efficiency to freighter warp drive +15% frigate speed +18% frigate fuel efficiency (most rare) +15% frigate trade +15% frigate combat (atk/def) +15% frigate ‘mining’ (industrial assumed) +15% frigate exploration Interestingly, these modules seem to all roll at the same stat values. You can install 6 of each of the above mods on your freighter (3 in general tab and 3 in technology tab) - Total of 42 modules to farm, here, to max your freighters’ non-crafted modules out. Pro-Tips I’ll pass-on after farming this: If you’re gonna Skyrim-style loot everything on the ship every run you do (like I started doing) - don’t bother. Just grab the big chests & the suitcases on the way from the entrance to the final room, looting all in the final room. Ignore all lockers - their loot pool sucks. Chests have a chance to drop 1 of 3 S-rank starship mods - pulse, hyperdrive, or shield, which you can sell for around 500 nanites each (sell @ the space station to any upgrade module vendor). I averaged 2 of these per run, only looting chests from start to finish (not going in side rooms, and not looting chests not on the direct bee-line from start to end in each room). Because the S-rank starship mods drop so much, ignore the terminals for crew and captain manifests - they sell for less than their time is worth, as-in you’re better off spending your time moving onto the next derelict freighter, and more freighter and starship mods. Freighters stats after mods were applied came out to be 6326.7 hyperdrive range, 8.0 warp efficiency, & 113 fleet coordination. Big shout out to ashenveal (OP on reddit) and JasonPlays (KZbin) - Thanks for helping the NMS community out, here. Now I don’t have to craft AS much frigate fuel (oh snap, or is it more because they go so much faster... ;) )

I ran this gauntlet over 20 times today. I now have 3 S-class frigate modules for each type (exploration, trade, combat, and mining), as well as two modules each of frigate fuel efficiency boost and speed. These bonuses are so huge that most frigate missions can be run with 2 or three ships! Especially since the maximum total strength of any type is 150. I just sent out 5 expeditions, all at max strength and most were only 3 ships! I also picked up several hyperdrive boosts of 245 light years each (even more with adjacency bonuses). However I ran into a weird glitch about every third run where I would teleport back to the airlock and find it closed. I opened it no problem but when I got outside my ship was gone! I had to use a Nav Chip and the landing pad panel to summon my ship!

Then Bethesda did there 'Ban Sweep' and because I bought a duplicated weapon, I've been banned for life. Which turned out to be a good thing as I got back into NMS. Still works as of May 12th, 2022. One suggestion i have is to shoot one band at a time over each door. A couple of times i would shoot 2 or even 3 at the same time, and then even though all bands were gone, the door would not open. It mostly forgives shooting 2 bands at once occasionally, but for me at least (on the PS4) 3 bands was a no-go.

I did exactly this - got 6 of the exact same S-Class Hyperdrive Upgrades. Awesome freighter range now! Thanks! Now just need a different S-Class to hunt. Going to go back thru the portal to that same system again and see if the upgrade type changes. EDIT: 2nd trip thru portal gives me a different S-Class module - Fleet Speed. Will return every day!

I lucked out big time. I was searching for S Class derelicts and the first one I found literally takes less than a minute from landing to takeoff. I think I searched about a dozen systems before I found an S Class. Once you get to the point where you only need certain modules you can just reload if you didn't get the one you want. FWIW there's a lot of S Class derelicts to be found and it's way more fun to find your own so you don't have to keep going back and forth thru a portal. I marked mine with a base because the system also has some great looking ships and an S class MT :)

Don't know if it has been mentioned but the glitch before searching for the next freighter might not be just the distance it's also because the mission says to visit the space station to look for someone to sell your salvage, you can see it there in the lower right corner. When that message falls off then you are clear to search for the next freighter it seems.

Lol there’s a Rosetta Stone of glyphs on the nms wiki page. Folks interpret the glyphs differently for ease of recall. I don’t like the paragon... i use trivial pursuit piece lol. Paragon would be much quicker to say, but I won’t remember the word lol. When communicating the names to others in groups, I try to stick with the official names to keep confusion to a minimum. I think the glyphs can be found on the nms assistant app as well.

So once you have some cords you can use them in any galaxy, Xaine did some research and the glyphs will work in any galaxy and retain at the very least the class of the upgrades. The class cannot ever be changed but the type can vary.

Thanks for the video! Really helped finding those mods without wasting time on garbage. Has anyone else noticed that the mods don't actually seem to affect the speed of the fleet on mission? Before fleet speed mods it would take 20-21 hours to run a 2 star, 3600ly mission. With all the fleet speed upgrades .... it takes the exact same amount of time. Lol :/ Oh well. At least all the mods look pretty in S class.

so the hyperdrive mods were proving to be really rare, like 1/20 beacons. Then i noticed that i had went to space station and saved upon getting my 3rd HD mod, 15 beacons later i went to space station to unload again. Next time out, i got another HD mod. And it clicked! Wonder if i can get an HD mod by just saving at space station. Sure enough it worked! So now i am maxed and saved alot of time. Hope this helps and someone can confirm , to make sure it wasn't a fluke of luck to do it 4 times in a row basically.

I struggle with whether I want to use these great tutorials to advance or if that would be like racing past the game goals too quickly, like watching a movie in fast forward. But of course, we can do anything we want in this game which is a big part of its appeal. I guess the answer for me is to use the quicker methods when I get stuck and bored. Jason, I play in VR so your habit of calling out the glyphs as you put them into the portal is fantastic. I can just press play on your video on my laptop, put the goggles on and input the glyphs. Normally I have to put in 3 or 4 then take the goggles off and do another 3 or 4 etc. Keep up the great work. Useful TIP: if you hate getting stuck on those damn ladders, deflect your joystick to the side as you jump into the hole and you'll be just to the side of it when you hit the next deck.

If you're doing this with 1 emergency broadcast receiver... 1. Use EBR, then put in portable refiner. 2. Pulse to reveal freighter, complete freighter, leave 3. Remove EBR from refiner. Note it currently says (active) 4. Fly away from freighter (you may have to pulse for a second or two) 5. Keep checking inventory. As soon as the EBR doesn't say (active) anymore return to step 1 👍

Do the daily frigate missions and your freighter will upgrade itself, you should really only expect it once without tons of missions tho

You don’t need to bother with derelicts if you want to be a pirate, every freighter you destroy in this system will give an S class upgrade. Way more fun and efficient than wasting time walking through the freighter

You don't have to be in the starter galaxy for this one, the class of the final rewared is determined by galactic coordinates, so it's consistent between galaxies, the dungeon itself will be different though.

Shoot the cargo on freighters out in the wild. You’ll get quite a few, fast. You can then dupe them if you want, also buy gifts from other AI ships to re-increase your standing with the race in that system if you drop a bit for attacking their freighters.

If you don't want all your mods to be from Ayoro like probably everyone else who watches this, I found another you can get as well. The portal is Bird - Sunset - Dino - Dragonfly - Sunset - Bird - Pie - Whale - Moon - Flux - Starship - Black Hole. Also, there aren't a bunch of bases there either =] .

By the way if you look carefully at the doors in the freighter you will see that the doors that lead to computer terminals are numbered and they other doors have a symbol instead to let you know what way you are going so doesn't even matter if its procedurally generated or not 😂
