Jimmy, your video was very helpful. Our soft rock band wanted to record audio off our mixer for our website. The only way I thought of doing it was to use a Tascam Pocket Studio, which is much harder to use than a phone. Your video revealed how to accomplish this with a phone. I had no idea these small adaptor cables existed and that they enable audio recordings to a phone. THANK YOU!!

If one has a recent Samsung phone, the built-in app will automatically use the external microphone/source for recording. If one uses the Pro Video mode, the audio level bars are displayed. Moreover, one can set the exposure and focus manually in Pro Video mode so the exposure doesn't change when one moves around. It enabled me to do away with the Open Camera app.

Jimmy thanks a lot for a great tutorial . I would how ever like to clarify/ enquire about one thing. The mixer has 2 outs , Right and Left channel . As per CTIA standards , The TRRS converter ( Grey cable ) from phone converts that TRRS into TRS . i.e , the two incoming channels ( Right and Left ) from mixer are shorted into One Microphone channel . To clarify , the Sleeve of TRRS bears the microphone signal which is shorted to the Tip and Ring of TRS . On the other hand , the Ring closer to Sleeve in TRRS bears the Ground signal and is connected to the Sleeve of TRS . IN such a situation , the Right and Left Channels of Mixer are directly shorted which seems to be a big problem for the mixer health and it can even blow up its channels as the output impedance of audio devices is always Low . What is your take on it ? Did you encounter any such problems ??

Hi bro, This video of yours is of great help. Request your expertise and assistance for the below questions 1. Can you suggest a cheaper Mixer. How is "Yamaha MG06 6-Input" Compact Mixer. 2. Can the above Yamaha model be used to do video recording the same way you explained? I have 1 guitar, Keyboard and 1 or 2 mics for vocal to be recorded at the same time. 3. On the Head phone jack-input can I use a multi headphone splitter and use multiple in-ear or on-ear headphones for every musician and singer?
@fojctv4 жыл бұрын
in that price the the Yamaha MG06 are ok, yamahas mic pre’s are sometime a bit noisy, but they are good little mixers, but I would look for something with Hi, Mid and Low EQ and if you are doing music, get something with FX, ou a little more money you can go with a USB mixer with FX and then you can use USE to your phone and get a even better sound the TRS, here is the smaller mixer to what I am using in my video: Mackie ProFXv3 Series, 6-Channel amzn.to/3hBv6KB and here is my video on using USB mixers to video or livestream: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYSkgJ6LgsZrsM0 the boards Im really liking right now in a mid price are: any behringer with midas Pres: amzn.to/3huGJmq presonus mixing board amzn.to/30GosMg Mackie ProFXv3 amzn.to/3g0mKvF and yes you can us a headphone splitter or even better a 4-Way Headphone Amplifier amzn.to/3jE3Z3b

Great video! the Mackie 10 looks good. BUT there should be a box that does it all so anyone can shoot video while playing guitar to a backing track in headphones! I have audio engineering experience , but I shouldn't really have to for this . I ran guitar HX Stomp >to tascam DR40 mini interface > TRS cable > otg adapter USB to phone >open camera . it works yet I can't get a cue mix in headphones .that's why a mixer would be better , for pre amping the signal and monitoring in head phones . what I do now is I play into the phone and look back at the video and the direct sound is good . in the industry the tech is like...almost there . now they are making everything blue tooth for mp3 players which is not as good as wireless, or wired for doing backing tracks !

The TRRS jack has stereo headphone outputs but only a MONO mic input - there are only 3 audio signals and the earth. To record a STEREO input you need an adaptor like the Rode SC6-L with associated Reporter app, which only works for an Apple device. Is there any equivalent Android adaptor and App which also addresses the Rode shortcoming of only ganged left and right input recording level and no power for condenser mics?
