Is there any maximum age when the baby gets aware that taking the feed will no longer harm him in any way.? I mean if I want to breastfeed my baby as long as possible, Is there any chance of him getting normal just because he grew up and now he understands why it is important to him?

I want to move completely to breastfeeding but now she cries hysterically when I take her in breastfeeding position. Hi Helen 👋🏼 It’s so reassuring hearing stories from mums who have successfully managed to get their baby to breastfeed in time by sheer perseverance really. Hats off to you all. I don’t know if I could have done it but you never know until you’re in that position. When I was in hospital with Elliot for 5 days I was really on edge and I couldn’t get comfortable feeding him, I did a lot of pumping on their machines which I think really helped my supply in the early days - I think my breastfeeding journey probably wouldn’t have been as successful without getting my supply up if I hadn’t pumped as it was really difficult learning how to properly bf it in a stressful hospital situation. Considering it is so natural there definitely is an art to it in the early days lol. This will be so helpful to anyone in the same situation ☺️💕 thanks for sharing xxxx

Hi Helen 😊 I've been trying to get my 5 month old to exclusively breastfeed for months now. So back story is he had surgery at 4 days old and was in NICU from birth up to about 1 month, so he was introduced to the bottle early on as I couldn't breastfeed (he still only had breastmilk as I expressed) . I managed to get him to breastfeed after but mostly during the night. However for the last few weeks he has put up quite a show and doesn't want the booby anymore so all that work feels like it was for nothing. I won't give up tho. Sorry for the long comment 😅 What i want to ask is LOL do you think it will help if I cup feed him so just get him to disassociate from the bottle, or will it do more harm?

So sorry for the slow reply! Wow what a journey and good for you to have been trying for this long. Sorry he is refusing a little? Great video thanks so much! I'm struggling, this is baby 4 but I've only breastfed the last 2. My son had a lot of problems tongue tie and I had low supply but we muddled through and managed to feed until he self weaned aged 1 year. Now in hindsight I don't think he was ever satisfied from the breast, I had to top him up with bottles due to weight loss, then was told to stop after his tt was cut and he started to have green poos. Once I stopped top ups he was just Constantly on the breast never satisfied. This was all during lockdown so minimal support too! Now I have baby 4, she's 7 weeks and I've had similar problems she's had TT cut, I see chiropractor, I'm triple feeding and my supply is good. But having to top her up 3oz every 3hours. And I've noticed now in the last few days she's not suck swallow at the breast at all, she's just using me for a dummy. Before this I only ever noticed her getting the first let down and then she would fall asleep. I'm just lost at what to do. But it's so reassuring to know that you managed to get back to breast after a similar journey so I have hope xx

Hi Aishwarya. Thank you so much for your comment. I’m sorry you’re having a tough time and CTEV must be tricky, I assume baby has to wear boots or something? Absolutely amazing though that you want to go back to breastfeeding!!! So you’ve been keeping up your supply by the sounds of it? That’s a great start. What about trying an SNS? Or nipple shield? To get baby back to being at the breast. What happens if baby is at breast? Do keep trying - keep offering breast, have time near breast for baby. I would 100% recommend seeking advice from a lactation consultant, if you have access to one or if you can pay for one privately. You could also call a helpline like the breastfeeding network. Xxx

Hi Deeksha, I’m so sorry to hear. Do you mean a breastfeeding aversion? Do you suspect any reflux or anything? Any allergies he’s picking up through your milk? Definitely visit your doctor to check if anything is going on why your baby doesn’t want to feed. You could check out Rowena Bennett book and Facebook group - that’s really for bottle aversion but some parts may still be useful. Definitely keep the breasts a happy place, lots of skin to skin with no pressure to feed. If he is weak though and affecting his growth, the medics may need to step in. However if they do, that doesn’t mean the end of your breastfeeding journey! Keep baby close to you, skin to skin again etc as what I said in the video. I wish you all the luck. It sounds so hard for you and your baby xxx

@@deekshamathur4722 Ah so sorry to hear that. Hopefully with the meds, feeding will become less painful. Hello. I’m trying to relatch my baby. He just turned 6 months. He did breastfeed and need formula to gain weight. After 4 months, he lost interest with breastfeeding. He did have a tongue tie released at a very young age, and I’m curious if it is worth getting it released again if necessary. I’ve tried a nipple shield a few times and it seems to not make much difference. I have been using syringes to feed him milk at the breast and find it challenging since he is older and moves his head around a lot. What would you recommend to get us started? I pump a lot. So should I wait to pump before he wakes up and then try to breastfeed him? What about if the milk isn’t coming out quick enough? He’s used to bottle feeding and he’s pinching my nipple. Thanks for your honesty. It is very tough to find others who have had this struggle

Thank you for this video. My baby has colic and was exclusively breast fed for the first 3 weeks. I started introducing a really good bottle (the Minbie) for breast fed babies and pace feeding at 3.5 weeks. Now he prefers the bottle and screams so bad at the breast because the bottle nipple is slower, he doesn’t like my let down. He screams and gulps air at my breast and i can hear the air going down then he’s in pain. He’s traumatized himself at my breast and prefers the bottle. He loves to nurse the bottle and drink for like an hour on the bottle, just like he was before my milk content increased. Do you have any advice to help me help my baby master both and prefer neither? I am currently trying out a faster flow of nipple so that in a way maybe he will think “well they both flow fast, let me go ahead with the breast” I also try nursing him while at an incline with him on top instead of cradled in my arms so the flow isn’t drowning him from my breast. I’ve also tried to pump about 5 min before he nurses when my breasts are fuller. None of this has seemed to work. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!!

This same thing happened to us (with same timing)! Bottle preference, drowning during let-down, etc... What I decided to do was stop pumping so my supply would be only what my daughter needed. If she was only going to take one, I wanted it to be breastfeeding. I took a couple days to wean off pumping (to help with engorgement) and after about a week the let-down was much less intense for her. I also let her pull off during let-down as she needed, tamping the flow with a burp cloth until she was ready to go back on. It was a rough couple of weeks, but ever since then she loves breastfeeding! She's almost 3 months now and we're slowly reintroducing the bottle, but I'm in no hurry. I hope your journey has been good these past 2 months!!

@@HelenGraceC how?? I have not been able to manage beyond 2 times. My back and arms are sore with holding the baby and sitting for every feed through the day. There are times when my baby doesn't sleep for 3-4 hrs and wants to feed every 45 min. My energy just drains out although I get 4 hr sleep during the day (up all night). I want to increase the frequency but I don't seem to have the strength. Any suggestions?

I’m sorry I can’t read the last part. Do you mean your baby has suddenly stopped feeding from you? Teething, or a cold/ unwell? If you’ve moved to a bottle definitely express to keep up your supply. Keep putting baby to your breast! Please do let me know the situation and I’ll Try and think of ideas.please also reach out for support if you can xx

My baby not latching correctly what to do

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear that. Are you in the UL? Is baby not opening mouth or is it painful? I would recommend getting someone to watch a feed for advice. It might be positioning needs tweaking on either of your part or a tongue tie could be there. Dp watch my other breastfeeding videos too. And I’d recommend Global Health videos on here about breastfeeding. please come back to me if you have any questions. Its not always easy ❤️xxx

@@issiidil how old is your baby? Has she had a check for tongue tie? Sucking technique exercises might be good, also tummy time to strengthen the muscles. And seeing a osteopath I think helped Arthur! I know it’s super hard and I wish you all the luck in the world xx
