Each time I feel like I'm headed nowhere with what I'm doing, I watch your videos and you fuel my drive to keep on keeping on. You have no idea how important these tips are to me. Thank you as always for what you do for me and the community of beat makers. Hope to share with you my beats someday (when I'm good and confident enough) and to have you see (and hear) how you helped make it all possible. It's a tough journey, but it gets better and easier when there are pros like you around to help encourage and give the most awesome advice and methods. Thanks L.Dre. Much love.

People don't care how a beat/song is made so yeah using samples/drumloops isn't something you should be ashamed of, true
@mudimstrmind Жыл бұрын
Def built in loops but alot of songs are still beaitiful when the vocals are the changing melody in my opinion With good enough melody you sometimes don’t even notice the loops unless u have that ear for it
@damousx6860 Жыл бұрын
As long as you’re improving and learning from loops and samples, go ahead and use them. Don’t use them as a crutch. If it sounds good then good, however if the artist doesn’t like the loop for whatever reason then it’ll be more difficult to slot something new in that doesn’t sound half assed.

As far as music theory, I feel that getting a grasp of the most basic concepts can take music production a long way. It doesn't have to take too long to learn the basics, and if your desire to learn is strong enough, the intimidation factor quickly fades away.
@04foreverinvincible69 Жыл бұрын
i agree music theory is a weapon u should have in your arsenal...when u understand the theory you can try new ideas instead of just clicking notes and hope dey work
@naiamp3 Жыл бұрын
thank you for this!! i'm just getting started producing and i get hella imposter syndrome from using samples to compensate for my lack of theory knowledge. this reminded me that at the end of the day all that matters is using what you have to make good music

I agree with everything you stated in this video. I grew up DJing house music in Chicago back in the day and I always want to play some keys and do the drum programing of the tunes I was spinning. A year ago I purchased my Maschine Mk2 and the komplete Kontrol S61mk2, thanks to you and a few other youtubers I can drop some House, electronica and DnB with ease. Now I'm also picking up some of that GUNNA and Kaytranada

Mixing is definitely my biggest weak point and what I hate about producing the most. I always feel like something is too loud or not loud enough, and I spend way too much time turning stuff up or down. Using other songs as a reference is a good idea though, and I will try using that method. Also, I love your content..Just came across your channel a month or so ago, and appreciate your honesty in all of your vids.

One thing got me interested in your video: the concept of a unique signature sound! As I went through my songs, I found out, that I already have one, but not consciously applied: a short sequence of bells, playling a countermelody or support the main theme. In the future, I'll use this definitely with a purpose. Thanks for the idea!

This video just hit me right. I started 4 weeks ago and today I wanted to give up. Lack of inspiration and motivation after I couldn’t make what I imagined. Maybe I watched too much tutorials and ‘how to’s that got me to the wrong directon. This video gave me another hope 🙂

I use samples, and sometimes I use only stuff I made bla bla bla, but yeah, using samples is a game changer and it will be. I got 3 or 4 Lofi remixes, but I'm scared to finish them to publish. Scared of copyright. The thing with recreating beats, hmmm sounds very interesting, I should try today or tomorrow. Mixing, mixing, mixing, yes, improve your thing, also a game changer. 😎

mixing as a beat maker is 90% just balance and sound selection. most of your samples and sounds are already mixed and just need to be properly balanced. don't fall for the old farts info at pensados place or mix with the masters and over cook your mix.
