Excellent tutorial. I have watched more than my share of videos and not one comes close to the information you have and thank God you don't take an hour to make it clear. Thanks Gee

That was simply the best instructional video on cells I have ever seen and believe me over 4 years I have watched a lot. It was very easy to understand because it was so short, but every word was important! I HAD to comment. Thank you, wish I saw it years ago. ! One thing do you use actual varnish, like Liquitex gloss varnish OR do you use Liquitex Pouring Medium?
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Vikki! I always try my best to be thorough and concise with as little fluff as possible 😄 I use a locally made acrylic varnish - its quite thick in nature so i water it down to match the consistency of liquitex pouring medium. The liquitex varnish is thinner than the pouring medium.

Great videoas always, Gee! But does the swipe paint always needs to be without oil, or could I add oil to the swipe paint instead of the paints underneath it?
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
Indeed you can! the results look slightly different, but I didn't want to spend the majority of the video on different ways to swipe, but on how the cells are handled! I have more videos specifically on different ways to swipe (it's probably my favorite of the techniques) :D

Wow your students are so lucky! I still have a tiny problem, no pun intended. I followed your directions and cells are amazing: clean, well defined, beautiful and vibrant I wanna cry 😂. They are small though 😥 I suspect it's the heat over a small canvas. You think a precision heat gun is more suitable for small canvases?
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
Thanks! So no i dont recommend u buy a heat gun specifically for this, but with cell size you have to make sure you dont crowd them. If you can pick up the paintings and tilt it without much movement in the paint, its not going to grow no matter what you do. You want there to be quite a bit of movement left on the canvas and some patience so cells grow

Hello! I need help please! I tried using various additives suggested by other fluid artists to no avail. I'm now using Artist Loft ready-mix paints along with their silicone oil, still only seeing small cells or none at all. After my last pour I did get cells, then when I rotated my canvas slowly in a circular motion, those cells became squiggly lines, what am I doing wrong?
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
You will probably need to torch your painting - are you using any heat?
@reggieholmes7350 Жыл бұрын
@@GeePours Thanks for the fast response! Yes I use a culinary torch, sometimes I use a heat gun. I often see cells showing only in some parts, but even with heat they don't spread, when I've been lucky enough to see cells, they fall apart when I tilt my canvas SLOWLY, re-torching has not helped, I tried thinning my paints using only small amounts of distilled water, still no success.
@GeePours Жыл бұрын
@reggieholmes7350 it sounds like you’re paints are already too thin, its unlikely further thinning will help. Are you mixing these premixed paints with anything?
@reggieholmes7350 Жыл бұрын
@@GeePours So far I've only added water, I've had a few paintings that cracked when they dried which I learned is because my paint was too thick, that's why I added water plus silicone oil.
