You know why I subscribed to your channel? Because unlike other instacart shoppers, you don't complain and whine about how it's not fair! Like people using bots or stealing batches whatever's going on with the instacart app... you just get the job done and make the money and I love that and I support that! 🎉

Thx I appreciate the support….I don’t see anything positive outcome in complaining over things that are out of my control I leave that for the quitters….they just need a reason to justify in their kind that IC is not a viable source of full time income hence the videos about, bad markets, new shoppers, bad customers or any other stupid conspiracy theory conjured up in one’s mind….

Hi!! I've been with IC for 3 years & this is the 1st vid by u I've seem and LOVED IT!! I noticed you emphasize CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! ALL DOWN THE LINE! I saw over these years that when I take the extra time to communicate/schmooze with the client, 95 percent consistently add tips after delivery! I try not to look at the timer too much when shopping unless the client is excessively chatty. Then I'll politely let them know I gotta check out their order. Thanks man!

I appreciate your videos as I'm also in the 50+ age range for a shopper. BUT I have to ask - where are you located? I'm in the Orlando area and your numbers are like a dream day, even your bad ones. If we see a $23 - it's a 3 shop which means someone is not tipping at all. Yesterday I saw a $50 batch for 46 miles! I understand your point about the $1 per item but in our market, it's just not possible when instacart gives us $11 - $14 batches all day long that are two shop and one deliver. Thanks for the encouragement!

I’m in Southern California. I’m sorry the batches are small where you are at. Your options are to drive to a better area(higher rent area, mostly homes) or take the small batches that offer $1 or more per item. Good luck…..I’ve found that becoming an expert at knowing the layout of about 3-4 stores where instacart is heavily used (must be upscale) Grade ‘A’ grocers…NOT DOWNTOWN unless you can deal with parking for a lot of apt deliveries.

What the video doesn't mention is that it HEAVILY depends on the area and the market that you're in. In everywhere other than California, Instacart does not need to do minimum adjustments. From the screenshots, I could see that Daryl shops in the Los Angeles area, which is known for high paying unicorns, even more so than the rest of California. When Instacart does not need to worry about California laws and requiring minimum payment for time, they will throw those $7 triple batches with around 100 items out there. And what's surprising is that someone will eventually take it, encouraging those customers to keep doing what they're doing. In California, Instacart will pay a higher batch payment just because they know that by the end of the week, they will need to pay that minimum adjustment anyway. One of the most important things that Daryl mentions in this video IMO is the batch pay to tip ratio. Always go for a higher tip than the batch payment, even in California. I hardly ever take batches where the tip is less than that batch payment. Otherwise, I'd just be making the 1.2x minimum wage of California plus the low tips. In other parts of the country where Instacart pays a ridiculous low batch payment, you would need to focus even more on the high tip batches (if there are any in your area). But Daryl's comment is correct in that if there are better areas near you, go to those areas to shop. In my area where I live, I see many shoppers who I've gotten to know. They drive anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes just to that area to shop all day. Why? Because a good batch to tip ratio to me in a given day is 1:2 or some days even 1:3. This is even more achievable in the Los Angeles area.
@AL-ul6uk

@@DarylDelivers You mention working 8 hours a day, but looking at the timestamps of your batches, the 8 hours (or less) a day is only the active time. The time you start until the time you finish is sometimes over 12 hours a day. Does that take its toll? Just asking since I'm in my 40s and in some markets like mine, it requires you to be waiting in parking lots. In LA, which I've shopped in before, there may be many more batches available, leading to less wait times. However, less than 8 hours worked but over the span of 12 hours, to me, is still 12 hours worked, and that's too many hours for a daily thing IMO. I do agree with staying away from the apartment deliveries. In LA, there's no parking even close to the apartment, and you risk a parking ticket (which I admit that I've gotten) stopping for just a few minutes in a no parking zone in front of an apartment to drop off a delivery. Totally not worth it. The valley is for sure better than dealing with that in LA.

@A L Yes I leave my house between 5:00 - 6:00am and I get home between 6:00 - 6:00pm so technically I’m gone 12 hours per day. When I have downtime during the day, which is usually between 11 AM to 1 PM where the batches are scarce, and the batches that do come in, are not worth doing due to the tips to batch earnings ratio. When I have downtime, I will eat lunch or run errands like banking, groceries, etc.. I do have a couple of friends that do Instacart and we sit together and wait for batches and I don’t really consider that working but I do understand how you feel about being out for 12 hours straight. Plus being an old guy. I tend to pass up batches that I should be taking sometimes and that causes me to be out late in order to reach my financial goal. For instance, I could’ve taken a batch this morning that was $40 for 44 items triple with 16 miles of delivery, but I passed on it because sometimes I get lazy and don’t feel like dealing with splitting up a triple and lots of delivery time, and this just adds hours to my day. I hope that makes sense. Thank you so much for watching the videos and helping me with the comments. I really appreciate that. I will keep trying to do videos as time permits. Thanks again. Daryl.

$1 an item for the tip and if they have Alcohol, heavy or bulky items or high mileage the tip needs to be even higher. Instacarts portion needs to be on top of that. So 35 items tip is $35 plus instacarts portion so total batch pay would be $42 + minimum. My market provides this daily but I understand other areas people don't tip so maybe do other lines of work where you can be paid properly.

If I get to speak with the customer I go over the replacements or refunds with the customer. I always ask if the customer needs assistance with heavy items. If I see a newspaper in the driveway I bring it to the door. I always call the customer by thier first name. I always close every batch with a personal message thanking the customer and wishing them a happy holiday season. I tell them it was a pleasure to shop for them and tell them your name…Daryl your instacart shopper. I hope that helps. It is nice to see another senior shopper out here with me.
