great tips Coach. There was a 'lat activation' mini-circuit that John Meadows did a video on years ago that helped me feel the lats a lot more.

I appreciate the fact that Joe provides us all with these great training segments for absolutely no cost. It's obvious to me that this is a labor of love for Joe. He goes to great lengths to explain in detail the form and functions of each area. He is in a class by himself. Bravo HC! You've shown this old dog a few new tricks!😉

Great video.Just one question coach. I see some guys who worked out with you(ex. Hunter) use this exercise on a regular basis, but they seem to lean a bit back while you tend to lean a bit forward, almost like a crouching position. Can you tell me what the difference is? And which do you recommend?

Joe …why do you drop your shoulder on what looks like a 20-25 degree angle on the side your pulling down instead of keeping both shoulders even and parallel to your hips.It appears that you’re moving that side further away from the end point of the contractile range which causes you to use your external obliques.Please explain!

My gym doesn't have a neutral or supinated grip on the lat pull down machine, where is the focus shifting to with a pronated grip? Rear delt, mid traps, rhomboids?

Greetings Coach Joe , would love to know your thoughts on Doug Brignole Lat Pull In exercise , where the resistance is diagonal and comes from the side ?
@chickendealer9313
@chickendealer9313 3 жыл бұрын
I think the lat pull in lacks stability and is hard to set up consistently. The lat pulldown is not as good biomechanically but provides better stability and consistent setup. Both work good. Lat pull in is safer. Lat pulldown is easier to execute.

@@chickendealer9313 Lat Pull Ins seems to line up more with the direction the fibers run , it is not efficient because it is unilateral but might yield more gains over time , not a common lift

@@HypertrophyCoach Thank you for the quick reply Coach! What muscle is targeted when using a wide grip with the straight bar in the lat pulldown machine? Similar question as someone commented below. Would it be better to follow the arm path and have a short grip? Joseph 3 months ago so for example, in the most comon lat pulldown with supinated grip, and the most usual typical bar, do you recomend placing your hands closer in the part were the bar is straight? as an improvement of the most common handgrip (were the bar starts to bend)

Idk what Joe will say but if you are thinking about the bar, keep in mind that when training lats you also would want some type of reaching across the body, see when Joe executes he bends a little bit on the side, its just to get that lat shorter, when doing both hands at the same time with a bar in a supinated grip you cant really do that. Having said that if you want to do it with a straight bar with a supinated grip keep your hands as close as your shoulder width, if you get the closer like an example would be a v handle, you are reducing the range of motion and your upper arms are actually going away from your lats which is the opposite of what you would want as you want to have that arm close to your body and just in the end finish with some slight sidebend. Thats my opinion
@Joe-wi8mu
@Joe-wi8mu 3 жыл бұрын
@@dualShockRK98 I see what you mean, but I dont intend to bring my grip as close as a v handle, what I meant is to keep it in line with shoulders or a bit further, with that elbows dont flare out. Well, lets see what Joe has to say if he answers 😅
@dualShockRK98
@dualShockRK98 3 жыл бұрын
@@Joe-wi8mu I think in that case you're good to go. I would still favour one hand at a time even though it is a pain in the ass cuz it takes twice as long to do a set, buut I think you're on the right track. Hopefully Joe sees my answer and says I am right so he doesn't have to write as much as me 😂😂
