How to get bookkeeping clients - Identify your ideal client

Online book-keeping service is still new here in Nigeria, so I am wondering if you could offer some tips for emerging markets book-keeping services.

Hi, Veronica! Ideally, how much is the annual revenue of a startup vs growing business? I'm trying to pick between the two of them :) Thank you!

Hi. It varies depending on the "startup". There are some businesses that are startups that have millions of dollars in revenues. I would say that for your purposes, I would use $300K as a guideline. A business under $300K generally has less than 3 employees. A business with over $300K in revenue has more complex needs than a business with lower revenues.

I think that this is an important topic, but I am not sure that specifics were given as to how to market to your 'ideal' client. Are you recommending that people say "bookkeeping services for established business, owners must be over 30, and must see you profit & loss before I commit"? Or, does one start a website and then, if someone calls that is not a 'desired' company, you tell them 'no' over the phone or via email? How did you set yourself up as a boutique business? You have started the discussion, but not offered any ideas as to how to GET these 'best' bookkeeping clients. Please say that you will have a 'Part 2' to address these solutions.
