***UPDATE!!!*** With the patch notes released today, I wanted to update you guys on what we're getting in the big patch tomorrow! Global honing has been greatly increased all the way up to 1445, and they have taken away the gold requirement to hone to 1445. You will be able to by Chosen/Argos gear off the marketplace now, and if you use your Punika Pass on a character, they'll also get a full +0 chosen set for free. They are also doubling the drop rates for Vykas/Valtan bones and wings, so you will be able to craft relic sets twice as fast (although the gold gained from these will be less, but also not as needed since honing is free to 1445). I hope you guys have fun if you're just jumping into the game! :)

I mean i was sad to start playing again 1/2 days before the story pass ran out and as a solo player I thought: I guess i will be stuck at 1370 again cause i never like to do group content. But if i can save gold to buy the pieces (probably expensive af) I guess I can do something to see the rest of the story.

Quality Lost Ark YT content. I actually went through the Story Express on RU, so if it stays the same for NA, you won't actually need to hone gear until Feiton. The Story Express will reward you with +15 gear after completing the MSQ for each major continent allowing you to just go straight to the next area, while only getting +12 after completing Feiton. So basically after completing Feiton you'll need to hone the rest of the way to reach 1302. Which shouldn't be too hard with the current honing buffs, islands, and event vendors selling materials.

It has been around 6 weeks since I started playing lostark. So far I had 2 major problems with the game, first one is that making gold as a beginner is really harsh. I had no good income for a while and I always needed to wait for a week to just hone a bit. The second problem I came across is gatekeeping. It's understandable that some people don't have patience to play with new players and teach them. I joined a guild since I got gatekept a lot and it was the best decision I made. I really recommend people joining guilds if they want to learn the game. So far I got 1 1445+ and 3 1370's characters and slowly I'm getting better incomes and gear week by week. I know my progression may not sound a lot, but I enjoyed progressing this far. Thanks for the video, it was great. Update at 10.04.2023 God bless that honing buff. got 1 1460 and 5 1445 fully built as f2p !

Thanks for watching!! It's true that it's harder to get started with gold as a new player now compared to when the game first launched. I think they tried to help this by making T1 and T2 free to hone, but I hope they keep making it more cost effective in early T3 to help newbies too! Glad your roster is expanding and I hope you're having fun with the game! A 1445+ main is awesome, and the 1370s are great too!! Guilds are definitely preferable to pugging, I hope you have found one/are looking for one too! :)

Did I get this right, we get three catch up helpers? 1. Punica Power Pass (1-> 1302, beginning of Punica storyline) 2. Story Express Pass (1->1302/1340, end of Punica storyline) 3. Express Event to push ilvl from 1340 - 1445

Its a buffed version of the Punika Power Pass that skips the honing with normal leapstones and gives u 1340 argos gear that u can hone with greater leaps it also skips punika storyline Story is also till 1340 but u have to replay all story starting from luterra till end of punika Express is extra materials and better odds till 1445

Yup you have it correct! The Punika pass is more like an instant boost to Punika with full gear, while the Story Express Pass you'll still need to go through the starting content, it will just be much faster. The Hyper Express Event will be the same, letting you pick someone to quickly get from 1340-1445, although it won't be instant like the power pass!

Very nice guide. However... it's kinda completely missing out on a few things which completely screw anybody trying to start the game at this time, and I think it's pretty important to inform new players of the hurdles which they will need to overcome so they can make the right decision for their time. 1) With one character and the recent gold nerfs, you are going to take many, many ages to reach 1460 after you hit 1445, which the hyper express mostly funds for you. 2) There is actually no abyss dungeons or guardian raids for most players under Tier 3. 3) You kinda need to be experienced to create your own legion raid parties, at least enough to use sidereal and understand mechanics. 4) Gatekeeping is pretty insane, as a new player it takes a very long time in order to get into legion raids every week; you are sitting there for 30 minutes or hours trying to find a group that will let you in, especially at low roster levels. 5) You won't see many other players in the game until you reach 1445, as nobody runs normal valtan anymore. So, you will be playing alone the majority of the time, minus an hour or two per week -- in addition, since barely anybody runs normal valtan anymore, most players will likely never make it in to clear normal valtan unless they spend many, many, many hours of time to do so, for such low earnings. 6) In a new or returning player case, a static/guild is insanely important for clearing content -- pugging will make your game feel very sad most of the time at this level, and you will be discarded by most of the Lost Ark player-base. The events do try to make it sound like it's a good time to get in. The catch is, once your hyper express is used up, your real hard journey begins, and it's been made to take far, far longer than anybody else that's gotten up there previously. As a returning player with a full roster of 1445 characters, this time has been the worst time I've spent in Lost Ark so far.

If you are new, run supports unless you want to use your credit card. The cost of getting a support to max level and not gatekept is so low relative to dps. Plus supports generally can be more “in the background” during minor boss mechanics so you can learn better. If you run 3-4 supports, you can funnel gold to a few dps characters for your main 6 and likely enjoy the game a lot more unless you drop thousands on the game.

While it's true support is easier to gear up and more widely wanted in parties (a good starter class especially if you're pugging all content), it is definitely not true that you need to swipe thousands to enjoy the game playing DPS. So so so so many players in this game are F2P, and honestly it's one of the most F2P friendly games out there. You can swipe to get ahead faster, sure, but everyone will catch up in the end.

Yup, you can Punika pass and then you can even use the Express Event to get her to 1445 faster. South Vern pass isn't necessary but it does get you through the story faster and give you free ilv 1370 gear so it puts you a bit ahead. Have fun!!

very good guide, i just think the biggest problem is there isn't enough ways to get gold for new or returning players to get gold and most parties wont accept u if u dont have right gear but how are u to get the gear and upgrades to your gear without the gold and there isn't enough players to do t1 and t2 abyss dungeons but if u do get most of them never check or learn the abyss dungeon mechanic that leads to failed runs almost the whole time ps i see many ytubers with guides but its for already t3 players not returning or new players and no one address the issue of how to get gold if u dont have a t3 character or geared enough character to do t3 abyss for gold

Thank you lots!! It is a bit harder to get gold right at T3 now than it was at launch, but keeping up with your Abyss Dungeons and Unas tasks for gold, along with things like Chaos Gates and other dailies should definitely be enough to fund honing costs. On the bright side additionally, the Express Event from 1340-1445 usually supplies a good amount of gold to keep honing too, along with silver and other materials needed. The more raids and further T3 content you unlock, the more weekly potential for gold comes from doing dailies/weeklies. The Express passed character will also have a free 4x3 setup for three months this time around, so that should help people get into parties too! (so glad they chose to add this system in this time!)

@@MycaPlays ok nice to now the express event also give gold, i have plenty mats(shared inv is full of mats bags and chest i saved) to hone but no gold for my recently t3 glaiver but ill take the artist with pass and express and hopefully i can use artist to get enough gold to work on glaiver or switch to summoner later after focusing on artist might use story express on summoner thank you very much now i just have to wait for artist launch and try farm with my 1334 glaiver as much as possible till then

We're actually getting a Story Express Event which will let you manually level a character and get from item level 1 to 1340! So you can start from 0 with Artist and get to 1340 way way faster, and then utilize the Hyper Express Event which will also fast track her from 1340 to 1445 if you'd like as well! So there are multiple events we will be getting-- since you aren't level 50 yet you can utilize the Story Express Event, which will get you from item level 1 to 1340, but it won't be an instant boost. You'll basically get very fast tracked leveling and gear progression to catch up to 1340 easily. When you hit ilv302 (the start of Tier 1 at lv 50), and finish your North Vern quests, you'll unlock 2 free Tier 1 power passes to instant boost 2 characters. You won't get the free Tier 3 pass for the event until you have at least 1 character in Tier 3 (so the T3 pass would basically be for an alt), but it will be very fast getting into T3 with the events! Best advice I can give is run as many supports in your main 6 as possible. You can sell your wep honing stones, lower engraving requirements, and will be high demand for parties.

If you have not started playing the game yet I would advise to not begin in the first place. There are far to many account wide stuff which would take far to long to farm or near impossible with island souls and what not. You can definitely not FOMO the game but ultimately getting into parties will most likely be a massive problem in legion raids due to having low roster level which in turn will make earning gold a royal pain which will destroy your progress. Ultimately do as you wish.

Me and my group don't look at roster level for determining on whether we take someone or not, we look at their engravings, stats and etc.. I mean a roster level does show if the person has played lots true.. but it's not the most important factor. New players will eventually catch up.

Only feels like a fulltime job if you make it that way. Play 1-2 characters or more on rested and you will be just fine. You will catch up more slowly but that is the nature of the game, its a marathon not a sprint.

Great guide. I would add that at 1415 you probably want to join a bus for Valtan, that way you can see the whole fight properly without wasting anyone's time. Same goes for Vykas normal. Ofc make sure to do your own research on the fights as well by the time you hit hard modes. The reason why I suggest busses is because decent people rarely run normal modes and in the end you do want to progress while learning. When you spectate someone familiar with the fight you have much easier time tracking everything that's going on. Also less people actually fighting means the boss goes slower than usual and you get to see most mechanics through out the fight.

The game's good content is gated behind wayyyyy too much artificial grind. I enjoyed the group raids but couldn't bring myself to do the daily grind to reach the next one. The daily solo stuff was just too much. Same thing with guardian dailies. The worst thing was the timed merchants that sell cards. Power is gated behind merchants that spawn in random locations at a set times? Who the hell enjoys that type of content. In the end, the design of the game just ends up feeling like work. Not at all relaxing or satisfying. Just an endless checklist.

I started running my chaos dungeons and guardian dailies on rested only, it's less tedious than doing them everyday... As for the merchants, they have tracker websites that show you what's for sale and where they are spawned... this is not a big deal.. All online games of this caliber can start feeling like that, but lost ark still has the best raids/combat in the genre so it's worth it.

The game does not have predatory game design nor monetization, myself and many others are playing this game for free without spending anything. It does take some time, but that can be said for all MMO's.. find a friendly guild and join it.. you'll be fine as a new player, you have to play catch up some but it's not impossible and the game is fairly generous with freebies + events.
