Just wanted to say I'm really excited for this video series. I bought the Lost Ark pre-release Silver pass, played around a little bit, then had a baby and got completely overwhelmed so I haven't played at all since about a month after NA release. I'm looking forward to diving back in so any videos about classes, getting started, gameplay tips, even something as basic as how to farm for and improve gear etc will be great!

farming for gear isnt a thing. you build gear with abyss/leagion raid materials that you get a set amount of per week. Upgrading that gear is done via materials you get from chaos dungeons and guardian raids (the daily stuff)

I've come back to this game a few times and I sort of feel like how an abused spouse must feel. The gameplay itself is great and I always have a lot of fun at the beginning playing through a new class until I get to the point where I have to do anything with a higher challenge ge that requires other people. MMO communities are pretty ridiculous on average with group requirements but lost ark might take it to another level. The main problem is there just don't seem to be enough people around in that middle ground to progress through older content naturally, most of the average people quit long ago. It's either people who have no idea what they are doing or people who are far over-leveled who will only help of you buy a carry - so you end up wasting hours hoping for the goldilocks party to show up that doesnt exist. Good luck to any new players getting into this game at this point, it's a depressing slog trying to catch up to current content but I wish you the best of luck.

i started playing on release then quit shortly after because the game got overwhelming and elden ring released (huge soulsborne nerd). a friend that started playing with me stuck to it and due to old korean trailers i knew about artist and told her once that class releases i'll give the game another shot. started playing again about a week ago now and now after my friend taught me these many mechanics and systems that overwhelmed me, i'm absolutely addicted. thank you for this guide, i'm one of the 2 people that seriously appreciates it :)

I am new to the game and I am struggling to find enjoyment in it. Everyone already knows the mechanics to the legion raids and don't often take 'noobs'. And if by chance I was able to get into a raid then I usually get insta flamed for not getting everything 100% correct in my first try.

I'm gonna say it since no one else will, just stop now because that's how it will be for as long as you play. The gatekeeping in the game is toxic, the community is toxic, and no amount of fun will outweigh these two problems. The current players will tell you "just learn the mechanics", "find a good guild", "make your own groups", but this is far from the truth because no one is going to help you when they have 6+ characters to play and a multitude of dailies/weeklies to do. Find another game, you'll save yourself the frustration.

I thought I knew the meaning of gatekeeping when I came back to the game and reached Argos. Then I realized the real gatekeeping starts when you hit the first Legion Raid, Valtan. I have had a hell of a time trying to find people willing to learn it with me. Absolutely miserable time. And of the few people on my server I've actually been able to find who will actually talk to me, 1) it's not fair to them for me to keep relying on them over and over to carry my ass/teach me everything, and 2) it's kind of hard to learn with them because they're all way over-leveled for the content I'm at, so playing anything with them is a cakewalk. It's miserable, and that's to say nothing of continued bot issues and RMT ads in the party finder and so on. Seriously considering quitting the game again, AGS can go to hell in a handbasket for all I care. They ruin everything they touch.

@@sxuld Yup. And I gave it my best shot at making friends and finding a guild, both in game and through the official Discord and my server's Discord as well. All to no avail. So I quit, hopefully for good this time. No sense wasting time trying to make friends with people who by and large don't want to be friendly, along with wasting time on a mandatory daily/weekly grind, when I could go back to a game world I actually love (FFXIV) that respects my time, has plenty of optional grinds I can do with a defined end point and guaranteed reward, and which won't slam me with FOMO if I decide to take a few days or weeks off to touch some fucking grass. Feels so good to be back there, man.

just started the game 1 month ago the part i dislike the most is if some player dont know the mech or know the mech but dont want to teach they rage quit in phase 2 or 3 than your are stuck or have to found a group who are stuck at the same phase as you , they should put a system that if you didnt finish the raid you can restart from phase 1 but you cant claim reward you have already collected form the last raid that will be less punishing for the beginner and those who know the mech , at the same time it give more opportunities to learn for the beginners its only my point of view , a game that gave you more chance to learn will be more viable in long therm , i dont mean make it less challenging but im a casual player if im stuck at phase 2 or 3 and i cant find a group i have to wait the reset and that is worst than failling the raid !

Tried to come back to this game after playing Diablo 4 recently and remembering how good Lost Arks combat was but maaaaaaaaaaan does it feel pretty much impossible for new or returning players. The LFG boards are scarcely populated with groups, I think the Forums must have been shutdown/put into maintenance mode because the latest posts on it are months old, any medians I could explore for finding a guild to join to help me get back into the game were barren wastelands, Area chat channels in major hubs filled with players are completely silent nobody is talking, and the game is getting more bloated with features to keep up with without making it easy to clearly understand. I feel I went into fairly committed to starting up again after downloading the game and ended up packing my bags and saying it's just not worth it even faster then I could have imagined. Really wish they would focus there design and development efforts and fixing the new/returning player experience rather then continuity pushing end game further. New player experience is in serious need of a complete overhaul for the long term health of this game.

I really miss this game and wanted to get back, but the thing that stopped me recently was kind of "dead" open world. When it was released it there were so many players doing islands and other collectibles. Now after 200hs I stopped playing and didn't log in until oktober 2022. Even at peak time on a populated server there were 2 other people with me waiting for Tooki King. I realize that once others have gotten the giants hearts etc there's not really much reason to go back, but still it is one thing that prevents me from returning. I feel like im too far behind on those islands that can not be reasonably done solo. Maybe someone can convince me im wrong? because I want to play the game again.

Jesus there is just no end to the systems. Oh hey new player! Here is a log in reward and a new player log in reward and a event and another event and a quic track here and a gear grind here and a silly thing here oh and don't forget the little story that makes you pic up trash by the side on the road and don't forget the collectables in every area and remember the gather the songs and the emotes becasue you will need that to unlock the areas 200 hours in to the future and ofc you have to gather the mounts and pets and buy all the relationship items and remember to better your relasionship with all teh npc's but only once a day for eternity for some rewards where only the last one will matter but keep the other or you might not be able to progress this other area that you never been too and here is some tokens, 15 currencys and 10000 materials that you can't fit in your bag but don't want to gget rid of because you will need it at somepoint and here are a tons of random books and cards to collect all of which are very important for endgame builds but you will only know about them after lvl 50 and at the end of the starter story and here is pvp you can't really do and pve that everyone already finnished and don't forget the guild quest that you need a 1400 gearscore to do but are constantly reminded of and oh here is some furniture and wallpaper and a npc want to talk to you about pets and gardening is a thing or maybe not and we are making a house for you but really it's another system with stuff that does stuff that might be important or maybe not best gather everything and do everything and hope you can somehow cram it all in that limited item bad of holding that you cant because the moment you delete anything you know you will need it for that one thing that allow you to progress. Oh and a new class jsut dropped why not do all this again but on that class instead but without half the bonuses and with some more skips? :D Oh right i forgot that there are also monster to hunt and grind for gear, that you need to unlock other monsters and gear and other tokens for other tokens for other dungeons and materials and gear and bonuses and stuff. Right by now you need to also start interracting with other peoiple we unlocked a few dungeons for you that you can do but if you don't know them you get kicked out for asking and then try again and no one does em anymore so go in solo but get no rewards that you need, have you heard of cubes? ARRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!! I JUST WANNA BE A BADASS AND HIT SHIT! SHUT UPPPPPPP!!!! xD

When I first started playing Lost Ark a month ago I started with a mage bard and couldn't choose which class I wanted for my first character. Is the bard the character you get from the get-go as a brand new player? I am in East America btw.

It's sad because im on a mainly German speaking server (*asta) and that's where i went all in before i knew so i'm kind of stuck in a sea of Zerg invite guilds (who just accepts everyone for the blood stones and doesnt talk or do anything) or closed german only servers or meme guilds :()

Stoped playing after about 3 months after release. Because all friends stopped playing the game and the amount of Bots where a real Problem at that time. They are still present, but not as much of a headache as they were before. Various restrictions were set in place to limit their activity, some of which unfortunately also affects legit players. Bots IMO are not the real reason why I do not recommend new or returning players to pick up this game. The game design is the main issue. Grinding on up to 6 chars. Gatekeeping. The difficulty of procuring optimal accessories for stats and engravings (unless you pick up a sparsely played class with a cheap build). The lack of pheons (although the pheon nerf for relic accessories comes in handy). If you truly want to play this game though, pick up a support class. Building 5x3 on them can be expensive, but 4x3 is very optimal. Don't recommend to do this now though, since Artist release brought an avalanche of supports in legion raids, so much so that you have difficulties finding DPS players on pugs.

I've played only 1 character and kept up very well up until clown, when i stopped playing for 3 months, which resulted in me being gatekept when i came back, because everyone already had the title or lvl 2 gear. Game design isn't an issue in itself, you can comfortably keep up by playing 1 character if you play regularly. Many people just don't realize this, and want to play 6 characters because others do it.

Getting to 1445 now is easy. Maybe even 1460. But in post 1490 content, not playing alts becomes a liability, as you will not generate enough resources to progress further in a reasonable manner. Honing and gearing up becomes all the more expensive and unsustainable without alts.

mostly when you're arround item level 1445 is when you can get into guilds that use discord and actually are active. Otherwise its really rare to find an active guild unless you find friends

Lost Ark guilds are all dead, simply because the game is built wrong. Having to take all of your characters to different guilds is trash. People are swapping between characters all the time and then they close the game. So your chances to talk with them is literally almost zero. Bad design. Bad experience. Thats it.

If you’re starting as a new player do you still have to like do the 100 hours of Island grinding to just even get to Punika in the first place? I wanna try to start again but I got so burned out just trying to even get to T3 I never even got there the first time. Is it easier to get a main character to T3 now?

kind of .. the upgrading process in t1 and t2 got easier(less cost less materials faster upgrading like one upgrade gives you +2 or so)

Reason I left? Because of the gear system, and the fact mounts and skins are not ACCOUNT bound. If I pay real money for something in a game I should be able to use it on any character that can wear it and on any server. The way Lost Ark does it, makes me feel like Im being robbed. They need to take some hints from games like WoW and other MMOS that have account bound cosmetics and mounts.

Sywo, you gotta admit Lost Ark is the worst game to start now. It seem they werent new because they wanted to cheese orbs. My friend is new and i wanted to take him play Valtan. We made a lobby with "Learning Party" and after 2 wipes. I had to tell him the fast more secure way was too take a bus. It was embarrassing to explain what was bussing.

the best way to start is unistall the game, you welcome 1 you can find pt to do the content (we want people who knows how to do the raid) 2 inflation is huge i have 3000 hours and is hard to build the character 3 HARD P2W o RMT is always the way 4 is like point 1 but the powerpass and everything left you with the ilvl just enought to do the things and the people dont want you 5 GATEKEEPING IS LIVE, i have problem and knows how to play a new player is like gg dont play and unistall good luck xD

Your Point #3 -- ( I have not played the game ) So there is RMT , Pay to Win , and then you must be knowledgeable in the how to of the raids... So even with RMT , that's not helping much since if you new and you RMT your way, you still getting left out because you are new

@@naldebol when you applie to a party they dont check only the ilvl of the character they also se the lvl of the account your card set and everything you can imagine to check how much time you spend in the account and see if you knew something that is why is so hard the gatekeeping, never play the game for you mentaly healthy xD

Lost Ark will always have new players bcause its f2p. It wont keep many of them tho. The game has too many issues and all of them is caused by SG and AGS. They missmanage the game, take the worst routes and decisions all the time. Only 1 year since release and the steam charts can barely go over 100k, from which we all know atleast 50k is bots. So now we reached a point where in all the western regions combined we have 50k players. Thats just sad. Such a good game, I put 1.5k hours into it, then quit. And I would never ever recommend it to anyone. While the game is fantastic, the people who run it ruin it. And the community is very bad and toxic too. Lot Ark despite being an MMo is not a social game. Its a grind simulator, worse than the mighty Black Desert Online..Homework, homework, homework. Wanna have fun? No way bro, u have to do more homework. Western people simply dont like this. Period. This is the reason why the game is failing and already failed on the west, just like in RU. If you are someone looking for a new long term MMO... it s_cks to say this, but just skip Lost Ark and find something better.

late game raid loop is soo good, especially for new players: buy a bus/swipe or wait for patry for 2hours > repeat that on 5 characters, yes you need to play atleast on 6 characters/swipe or you will not progress plus this brainded/unfun daily content. The side content like fishing, raport system or sailing is also garbage.

I was enjoying the game until it pulled the.rug.out from under me. I am not one.of those people who speed through games misdong the story to reach "end game" in mere hours (I have never understood that mindset). I have.spent weeks doing every quest possible, solo including dungeons and 4 guardians. To have the game then suddenly try to force me into what I don't enjoy at all is infuriating which according to comments on steam.does not happen in Korean version. You just buy new armor..I quit... but it possible I would like to find someone who can tell me what happens after you have all 7 arks. Can you? I cannot even.find a clip.. I known its in the game now.
