When I was having issues with acne, I did a 40-day juice cleanse. I did daily enemas at home and kept skincare to a minimum. After the juice cleanse, I eliminated dairy from my diet. That was 12 years ago and I haven’t had issues with acne since. I’m currently using Tret and it has taught me that less is more when it comes to actives.

When I did something similar I ended up with contact dermatitis. It was so fine up until my skin tapped out 😩 after that my skin was so sensitive I kept getting contact dermatitis back to back. After my third trip to urgent care I was told I couldn’t use anything but Vaseline. I had to build up my skin barrier cause I messed it up doing too much exfoliating while using active ingredients

That was ALOTTT of exfoliation. Most people will have a destroyed skin barrier from using half of the exfoliation in the routine but she has beautiful skin thats very robust but my skin hurt just looking at the nighttime routine🙅🏽♀️. Btw benzoyl peroxide (leave on) will oxidize (deactive) vitamin C and benzoyl peroxide. They should not be used at the same time routine. Love the video chat and the great advice😄

I’m convinced the same way that people are haircare product junkies, we have skincare product junkies. Most people just need a good cleanser, one or two effective treatments, moisturizer and sunscreen. The skin is an organ- got to be gentle with it and make sure we’re prioritizing health over the look of the skin. I recommend following dermatologist and estheticians on social media if you don’t have access to visit one, and enjoy the diamond type routines as entertainment content (cuz her skin did look good- at that specific moment of time), and not educational.

Marie actually helped clear my oldest sister’s skin so I know she’s legit! 👍 however what she’s saying doesn’t actually apply to everyone because every skin reacts differently. I can’t use raw Shea butter on my face but in a formulation like Cetaphil’s night redness relieving moisturizer I don’t break out. Some of the oils that work for my skin are Argan, grapeseed, hemp, safflower, sunflower, sea buckthorn seed oil and meadowfoam! and oil cleansing has really helped heal my acne! I also use a silicone face brush occasionally as well but never when I have active pimples. I mostly deal with whiteheads and salicylic acid works wonders! But I’ve switched off to mandelic and I’m loving the results more! This girls routine definitely shocked me! 🥴 If I tried that I don’t think I would have skin left to exfoliate

Thanks for having Marie on to react to this video as well. Over exfoliation nation is big. It may work for some but my skin would be so sensitive and inflamed after all of that. There are multiple things that plays a part in how your skin is which includes genes, lifestyle, environment, stress, diet, skincare, hormones just to name a few.

Another tip for those with oily skin, use a creamy cleanser instead of a soapy one. When I made this switch my oiliness diminished by like 75%. Creamy cleansers don't dry you out as much causing your skin to overproduce oil.

I feel like she revealed the most important hint which was she developed acne post having a baby. I suspect this is hormonal and women can take up to a year for hormones to balance or even longer If you are nursing. Sometimes the “thing” that actually is working is “time” …letting your body get balanced (and of course a good diet).

She is a testament that skin care is personal cause my skin .........just could not. My skin improved when I stopped doing the most. I keep it simple. 1) wash 2) serum (vitamin C in the AM and retinol in the PM). 3) moisturize (sunscreen during the day) and Gleamin Vitamin C mask is a no for me.

I feel like the biggest difference between these "how I cleared my acne" videos and youtubers who specialize in skincare is that the skincare youtubers are much more interested in providing suggestions and information rather than "solutions". With all due respect to Ms Diamond, I can't use any of her advice (literally none of it lol), but she delivers it with so much certainty that I can feel my lizard-brain taking notice. This is my experience with in-person acquaintances giving skincare "advice" as well - lots of conviction where it's...probably not warranted. That was a lot of effort to say "acne-clearing-videos are still incredibly wild to watch" 😂

I wonder how much environment plays a part in skincare because looking back I clearly was over exfoliating for years but had zero issues when I lived in Philly. Fast forward a few years living in Florida using the same products(clearly still over exfoliating) and my skin went absolutely crazy. I almost didn't look like the same person because my acne/scarring was so bad. Her skin looks amazing but over exfoliating is really nothing to play with! Sidenote... I wonder why skincare routine videos get so many views but videos like yours actually explaining the pros/cons of products so you know what you're and why don't get nearly as many views. Like you can't just buy and use everything that person is using without understanding what each product does

I am happy I saw this as I do use my benzoyl peroxide 10% cleanser every night and although I feel my cystic acne trying to come through it seldom actually comes to the surface. I really did not use moisturizer like that and now that I do day and night I am less oily. Dymond is lucky she still has skin after all this exfoliation. I had terrible hyperpigmentation from my breakouts and the benzoyl at night, salicylic in the am and twice a week lactic acid. This was all supporting my hydroquinone compound of 12% with kojic acid and tretinoin from my derm.

I love this video. My problem is not acne though it’s hyperpigmentation and not from acne, I think it’s melasma. There’s so many videos on acne prone skin but what about us melanated people that got sunburnt and never recovered or knew how to, or dark skin with melasma or hyperpigmentation from eczema. Not enough content on how to even out the skin or how long it will take or if the skin can actually heal from it after going untreated for years. Almost all hyperpigmentation videos I’ve seen is from acne but that isn’t the only cause. I’m going to search through your videos and hope I find something because I love how thorough you are but if there isn’t a video with an expert on it yet, please do one for the sistas like me ❤️

This happened to me when I was tootsie rolling with actives and no sunscreen in these Atlanta streets. I started using Black Girl Sunscreen and I used The Ordinary’s Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin. That’s what helped the melasma on my cheeks and forehead. It worked for me relatively quickly because I acted fast. I think also my skin in general recovers from scars and hyperpigmentation relatively quickly. I now use Tretinoin and my skin looks incredible, though I am going through the purge. Stay consistent with whatever you choose to use and consult a pro if you can.

My skin is mostly smooth and clear now, and I get soooo many compliments on it. I have oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin. And eliminating dairy from my diet was the most pivotal thing I’ve done to stop having cystic acne. My routine (remembering that everyone’s skin is different): Twice a day, every day I use a foaming face wash with my *gentle silicone cleansing device. Whenever I wear make up, I double cleanse using a cleansing oil (as the step *before the foaming face wash). Then I wash my chest and neck with soap and water. After cleansing, I use that chemical exfoliant she showed by Paula’s Choice. It’s also gentile on my face. If I happen to have a pimple (which isn’t often when I do the above), I then use a dermaroller and/or blemish patches (rather than picking). Lastly, I apply my serum(s) and moisturizer (and also sunblock if it’s daytime). Oh! One more thing: my long hair touches my face often, so I also stopped using pore-clogging oils on my hair (look into the comedogenic index for more on that). And I regularly clean my phone’s screen and change my sheets and pillowcases. Now saying that hyperpigmentation is my primary issue is truly a blessing; because for a time, it was cystic acne, and I was so sad about it. But even my hyperpigmentation has improved so much now too (because of all of the above, but also because I regularly use vitamin c serums and turmeric masks (new addition)). I’m praying that I fully figure out the hyperpigmentation soon. Wishing everyone luck on their respective journeys! 💕

I finally beat my acne by reducing my carb intake. Carbs boost your androgen levels (male hormones) causing more oil production. I struggled with cystic acne over 2 years. I tried everything from the outside. Acne is started from the inside out. Also your stomach health, very important, inflammation is started in the gut and will show on your skin. Focus on prebiotic and probiotic foods. It took me less then 3 weeks to see significant results.

I love my foreo luna mini 3, it helped my acne so much! I clean it with soap before I use it and only use it at night!

Imma keep my comments to myself cause this the same creator who claimed a waist trainer and a trash bag gave her an hourglass figure.

Everyone keeps saying you sunscreen but what is the best sunscreen for us. A person of color.

even as a person of color, it's an individual thing based on your skin type, lifestyle, climate, etc. there are two playlists of sunscreen reviews on this channel that you can check out to get some ideas as to what could work for you.

I don't think people need to do all this to have great skin! Some women in my country they just washed their faces with plain water only and that's it! We may be hurting our skin more by using so many things all together! Just saying even though now since I came to America I have started to do some of them because my skin has been so dry lately and I don't know why!

I agree, I wash with warm water and use a alcohol free moisturizer and that’s it and my skin is nice and I don’t wear absolutely no makeup
